Default Evander Holyfield vs Lennox Lewis 2 Wasn't As Close As I Remember

    1 Lewis
    2 Lewis
    3 Holyfield
    4 Lewis
    5 Lewis
    6 Holyfield
    7 Holyfield
    8 Lewis
    9 Lewis
    10 Lewis
    11 Holyfield
    12 Holyfield

    Lewis 115-113

I hadn't watched this in years but i remember this being a lot closer, did i miss something here folks ?? Because i just thought it was a repeat of the first fight except Lewis didn't concentrate as much on his jab and Holyfield was a bit more spirited, but Holyfield just wasn't working enough and Lewis was out landing Holyfield in mostly every round. I know i only scored it 115-113 but that was because i was being a tad biased to Holyfield, and i easily could of had it wider for Lewis. But IMO it was basically a repeat of there first meeting except Holyfield finished the last 2 rounds stronger.

Havent seen it in a good few years.

But do distinctly remember having it for lewis 116-112

Much closer than the original 117-111 that got scored a draw!!

Pulled out my scorecard and i saw a different fight 117-111 Holyfield i didn't give Lewis a round until 9, 10 and 11 i gave 12 to Holyfield.
I really thought Hoylfield out boxed Lewis this night and Lewis underestimated him. I will look at it again this week as i haven't seen it in a while.

were you stoned at the time??

Lewis still dominated the large majority of the fight.

Holyfield adapted to lennoxs style much more in the 1st fight agreed...but he still lost!

Holyfield did much better in the second fight Lewis wasnt connecting as clean as he was in the first fight but i still had him winning by 3 rounds.

Nope, had another look at it and Holyfield still wins! I guess the British bias is coming into this due to the poor decision in the first fight but to Holyfields credit he fought a great second fight, Lewis was lazy throughout and really did not press the issue, even his last round was not fought by a man desperate to win.

Going to pull the tape in abit but I seem to remember having Holyfield up by three points....thought there was a bit of over compensation in scoring after that absolute travesty of a "Draw" 1st time around

No British bias here im not a Lewis fan at all im a Holyfield fan, and you say Lewis never really pressed the action but neither did Holyfield. Holyfield on average was only throwing 30 punches a round thats hardly a ball of fire is it ?? I just see it as a repeat as the 2nd fight except Lewis didn't concentrate as much on his jab and exchanged a bit more with Holyfield. I'll admit Holyfield took the last 2 rounds because Lewis did get lazy but other than that i thought Lewis controlled the fight most of the way.

Interesting appraisal ThirdMan. I remember both fights but it was some time ago now. I remember the second fight being closer than the first and just shaking my head that Lewis got the second but not the first. I did think Lewis won the second though but haven't seen it in a while. Might have another look if I have it somewhere.
