    Default Was Khan Fasting?

    Anybody any idea?

Also was i imagining things or did Khan sound like he had a bad cold pre-fight (during the interview)but then he sounded fine after the fight?

Me and my Dad looked at each other and both said 'he sounds ill' before both saying 'he doesn't sound ill now' after the fight.

    Weird. Yes i'm making excuses.

Seriously tho. Did i imagine it? And the fasting...i'm just curious. Because if he was, his matchmakers and handlers want shooting.

That is a good question. I had no idea he was a Muslim and if he is Muslim, why the hell is he fighting on the month of Ramadan?

Yeah he is. I know he fought last year during Ramadan.

Sounds like i'm looking for an excuse so i don't even wanna say what i'm going to say...

    BUT

Surely going 12+ hours without food or water directly before a fight against a heavy hitter is surely a dreadful idea. Especially when you're a little bit chinny yourself.

Completely beggars belief if this is the case (which i'm pretty sure it is).

Not saying that's why he lost....those shots would have sparked most....well those stupid enough to stand and trade

I don't think he was fasting. Sadly I think he just doesn't have a chin at all, it's been proven tonight.

Real shame because he's got all the talent in the world but I guess he'll never be anything now.

If you can't take a punch, you ain't never going to win a title. What a shame

There's been plenty of chinny fighters to win a title, so khan if he ever did it wouldn't be the first, but if he indeed was fasting then he's really dum for fighting the guy...

guy I work with who is currently fasting was telling me that Khan isn't a strict muslim and doesn't fast during Ramadan

he could be wrong but can't see him fighting during September if he was fasting

going to watch it again now Smash, will look for him looking scared on the ringwalk, never noticed last night

    you're right

quote from Khan last year - fasts during training but not on fight day. How can he go without water during training ?!?!

If this is the case then the fucking idiot shouldn't fight in September - could play on it as an excuse though

While most healthy Muslims are able to perform the fast without any major problems, as the month progresses the combination of lack of food and sleep can take its toll and a tired or grumpy Muslim colleague or school child can be found staring at the clock in the countdown to iftar time, when they can break their fast after sundown.

While missing out on business lunches and the daily mocca-chocca-skinny latte may be difficult, those with more physical jobs have an even more arduous task. Professional boxer Amir Khan fasts even throughout his training.
"Fasting makes you feel weak," he said last year. "You have to wake up at four or five in the morning to eat, but you're knackered and you don't feel like food, you have to force it down. I wouldn't fast on the day of a fight though."

Naw,it looks more like the fact he's never under center and on balance finally caught up to him

To be honest even if he was fasting i don't think it really made a difference he was caught cold the first solid jab already shook him then the left hook to the forehead made him dizzy and he just couldn't recover i've had similar experiences in an Amateur fight where i was caught cold but i was able to survive and clinch and pound out a decision.............

Amir Khan has normally shown good survival instincts in the past but in this fight he didn't show any in fact if he was that hurt he should of gone down on the one knee after being floored 1st time and that would have gave him another good 18 seconds combined with the first knockdown.

Are there not certain exemptions from the fasting requirement?

If so, I'm sure Khan would have been exempted for health & safety reasons.

Saying that, I just think it's a matter of poor punch resistance for Khan.

The Limod & Gomez fights proved that there were going to be rough times aheah, whenever he fought someone with a dig & so it proved last night.

Yes it is ramadan and Khan did seem to have no punch resistance what so ever he was hurt with a jab.It could have played a part in it but i think he was gunna get KO'd no matter what Prescott was just better. He could be the next world champ we should have been following him rather than Khan.
