Weak, I'm not sure why it is I decide to become big fans of guys that chronically underachieve outside the ring, now that James Toney's fading into retirement I've got Joan Guzman.
This could be a real disadvantage for Campbell, stating the obvious, I know. Disappointing stuff though. He was closer to the Jr. Welter limit than the LW one. He didn't even come back for the 2nd weigh-in, so who knows how much of an advantage Guzman' will have weight wise.
Mora also had trouble making weight, I wonder how much that will benefit Forrest in their rematch.
Can someone explain how it's even possible for a guy who was fighting at super bantamweight only around a year or so ago can fail to make lightweight?![]()
Well Joan can be just looking for a win not minding the belts as if he did win he would be considered as a potential matchup for a bigger name...
I don't know just thinking out loud here...
Credit Nate though for taking the fight as he could have easily turned around and said I'm not fighting. But remember when Chico (RIP) gave JLC the weight advantage? Chico got sparked out.
We'll see what happens...
He weighed 138.5 and didn't even bother to comeback to re-attempt...
Mora was 2 lbs. over but made weight in hours...
I've noticed in the presscon pics yesterday that Guzman already looked weigh drained and yet he still not able to make weight today !!!
I really hate boxers that are unprofessionals... Good that the 3 titles were not on the line anymore... Still I want Guzman to pay a lot of penalty money to Nate...
Props to Nate for agreeing for this fight to proceed... that just give me additional reasons to root for him... Hope Guzman is totally weigh drained...
All the skill in the world but comes over like an Undisciplined little fat f!!!........I hope Campbell puts a beating on him in the late rounds
I might actually change my pick knowing this i find it hard to believe Joan Guzman who has fought at a division as low as Super Bantamweight is over the Lightweight limit that makes me seriously question how hard he has been training for this fight and i don't know why he wouldn't have trained hard he must know Nate Campbell is very dangerous despite his age or maybe Joan Guzman might of been trying to bulk up for strength but he doesn't need to he isn't ever going to have power especially at higher weight class speed and slickness is his best asset's but this is interesting stuff and i might actually change my pick but im not sure yet i'll have to think it over some more.
Who is monitoring all of this? surely someone would have known Guzman was never going to make it 2 weeks ago? 138.5 at the weigh in? Fuck me if he wasn't 145 two weeks ago and alarm bells should have been ringing. It's bullshit and to much of this is happening(Castillo) Guzman should be out for a year for this. I hope Campbell knocks his fat ass out!
I really doubt it was a lack of discipline that led to him being overweight.
I've never seen Juan Guzman under perform in the ring he always delivers 100%.
It must have been calculated which also explains why he didn't even attempt to weigh again.
I really feel he's looking at Nate as a stepping stone to get to Pacquaio and Marquez and felt that it was more important to be strong and heavy to win the fight than it was to get the belt.
I agree with you VD that he won't have much pop in this fight, but he's one of the slickest boxers in any weight class and has one hell of a chin.
I think he's going to take Campbell to school.
damn thats a shame even if he wins the fight he doesnt have nothin to show for it besides a win over nate campbell and thats if he does win and if he doesnt it sets him back a few steps to becoming a champion at lightweight to bad for him its almost a no win situation
