There are dozens of matchups in the lightweight division.

I don't expect Campbell to be champion for long though. I think Manny and Marquez have shown how weak the lightweight division actually was by coming up and knocking out reigning champs in Casa and David Diaz.

I reckon Guzman would have done Campbell as well meaning the featherweights would have conquered all the lightweights.

Only Juan Diaz has any real talent out of the lightweight bunch but he can't punch and would get beat by both Manny and Marquez imo, although they would be awesome fights.

I think tonight has shown just how world class Manny and Juan Manuel were and that the lightweights, although well hyped wern't actually that good. Casa was a great fighter but he's done now. He got beat easily by Santa Cruz, was in dire straits against Katsidis who isn't even world class imo and now got KO'd by a 35 year old featherweight.

The future of the lightweight division isn't Campbell. It's Manny, Anthony Peterson and in another year Yuriorkis Gamboa. Guzman if he fights again at the weight will get in the mix as well.

I've got a feeling Campbell will lose his belt in his next defense.

IMO, lightweight rankings should look like this right now:

    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Nate Campbell
    3. Juan Manuel Marquez
    4. Juan Diaz
    5. Edwin Valero
    6. Breidis Prescott
    7. Michael Katsidis
    8. Julio Diaz
    9. David Diaz
    10. Jesus Chavez

I would still have Casa at #5. Getting beaten by Marquez is no shame.

Let's clear something up David Diaz was a title holder and not the lightweight champ.
Marquez is now the lightweight champ and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

IMO, you take ANY possible chance you get to praise Pac and deminish JMM. It sucks cause for the better part your an OK poster and respectful it just so happens that your fully blinded by your fanboyism.

Surely Casa still deserves to be in the top 10! He got beat fair enough but he got beat off one of the greatest fighters in the world today, there is no shame there!

Not to mention he was the champ of the div.
How the hell is Prescott top 10?

I think Breidis Prescott deserves to be top 10 considering Amir Khan was about 8th in the Lightweight rankings according to Ring Magazine if i remember rightly and the way in which Breidis Prescott won also warrants a top 10 place i think Michael Katsidis should be out of the top 10 because of his back to back losses.

i dunno why nobody noticed it but i dont think valero should be on this list let alone #5. he has faced nobody worthy of mentioning except loco mosquera. otherwise he has face mostly japanese pansies who cant fight. put valero in with any of these guys and he'll be counting his lumps.

Good Points. I never really looked at the lightweight division that way.
However, i do see Campbell beating Guzman

Marquez vs Nate is teh fight that needs to happen to determine who the best lightweight is . If Pac disputes it then he should fight the winner.

As for the fight, I think JMM would beat Nate very similar to the way JMM beat Juarez.
Nates best game is rough housing and getting his opponent to fight his type of fight. If it's one thing JMM does is march to the beat of his drum.
I think JMM would outbox Nate for 12 rounds with Nate getting the better part of the early fight.

I think JMM would beat Campbell, but I don't think it would be lopsided as the Juarez fight. Nate is little trickier and he hits harder...oh, and he's much bigger. I would expect a decisive, but close, win for Marquez.

Yeah would be great. Even better if they could somehow get it on the ODLH Pac card and then have Pac facing the winner next year!
