That was meticulous work from Calzaghe. But Veit, has never been truly world class. And Joe has had to face him twice.
JC did have good power back in the day..floored Eubank in one and many more.
the last thing to leave a fighter is his punch (so they say) so with that in mind it goes to prove the hand problems are infact a definative reason as to why he changed his way of punching
No one can fault him for that and the thing that impresses me even more is the fact he's gone on to beat a way better pedigree of fighter WITHOUT the power he once had.
And some say he's not the real deal still![]()
No, he's the real deal. You're right, it is pretty impressive that he's adjusted to having hand issues and stayed on top. It's just too bad he never fought great competition until the tail end of his career.
JC hit rather hard back then. The was virtually no slapping around this time... He was turning over his punches in this fight... I'll be the first to critisize joes style but this was the Joe of old... Prior to hand problems(he was having them at this time but hadn't changed his style totally yet. He risked his hands in many fights prior to fully adopting his new style)

If Pav catches a guy like that its over. Calzaghe comes in at you low and at angles. He always seems to lead with his head.
Here is Roy Jones Jr in his prime up with better compation.
