it didnt actually save boxing but it got attention from most people who arent die hard boxing fans. and it was the most selling ppv of all time even though it was a snoozer![]()
Nope. It was more like that racing game that gives you more time when you hit a checkpoint.
And what's up with Oscar's 'mean' face? C'mon, he's much too pretty for anybody to buy that. Even with his Vulcan haircut.
Oops
Those pink gloves sure didn't save boxing.
Had to poke fun, I like Mayweather though!
It was cool that boxing got mainstream media coverage leading up to that fight, but the downside was it forced us to listen to people talk about that "Fight to Save Boxing" bullsh**.
Boxing didn't need saving, and one fight is never going to make or break it.
First I agree with SweetPea. Boxing doesn't need saving.
I think it really put a dent in people's perception of boxing. I mean, there was nothing at stake. no belt, no legacy, no action, no plot (outside of Mayweather Sr training his son or whatever they did with trainers), no heart, no guts, no blood, a lot of fake trash talking. It was closer to WWF if you ask me.
I think that it got a lot of people to do something they hadn't done in a long time and just watch some boxing, but nobody witnessed anything except an old man who can't throw a jab (only thing he could do to win the fight) and a prime PBF backpedaling his way to victory. IMO. Neither guy showed that they really wanted to win that fight.
Where's the heart?
"Floyd needs to inject Xylocaine into his balls to gain the courage to fight Pacquiao."
- and I quote from some random guy on the internet
I think the fight really made people remember boxing, it certainly has seemed like there have been way more BIG fights in boxing since that one. I think that fight got a lot of other guys off their asses to face eachother.
