    Default New AIBA rules

available in PDF format. These rules have been effective as of September 1 2008, but changes coming Jan. 1 such as rounds per categories and round lengths are effective Jan 1. 2009.

Also...here is the link to live time updates of World Cup in Moscow for anyone interested in following it over the next few days. They are scoring them point by point live, as it happens in 2 minute real time counting down rounds...which I think is kinda cool. It'll appear in the top right part of website when the fights are going on.

3x 3 min rounds is going to be different, should be good though I hope.

They have shown the score in real time at bouts I've been to in Australia. I like it - makes it clear what is scoring and what isn't.

In a way though it is too honest when from bout to bout what scores changes a lot but i think that has to be seen so scoring if forced to be more consistent.

I like 3 X 3 too - that might just be me being biast though.

To be honest though I don't think many competitive people would be less effective over 3 minute rounds in comparison to their opponents.

I think those who are much fitter than others over 2 minute rounds will still be fitter over 3 minute rounds.

I'm not sure te difference will be significant enough to change the hierarchy of boxing fitness until you get up to bouts with more rounds - like your ten and 12 round pros.

I think those who are less successful with 3 minute rounds will be people who were successful due to other attributes and begin to struggle when people have a chance to work them out and wear them down.

    I like it

I think it may really seperate those with good cardio, and those without.

We've sparred 3 minute rounds in my gym quite a bit, and then a week or so leading up to a fight....then bring it down to 2 minutes. I guess we won't be doing that any more, or atleast I won't. Not sure.

This again poses another problem for me in sparring with so many new members. Whereas they should be training and aiming for 2 min rounds pre comp....fighting in open class am going to be shooting for 3 min rounds.

I still have mixed feelings on it. Just got to 4x2. Suppose will know better after first real fight at 3x3.

I like how they've put so much effort into publicly saying that the females are equal and should be in the olympics etc etc....then they go and change the rules and pretty much say..."Oh yeah, women can't do the 3 x 3, we're going to keep them the same." Lame.
