I haven't read any actually, so take this for what you will. I assume the problem would be objectivity, I'm sure he's had books written about him from far left or far right perspectives, so you have to figure out what's bullshit and what's not.
Just from a quick look it seems like one of the major ones is an old one called The Bending Cross by Ray Ginger. Also Nick Salvatore-Eugene Debs: Citizen and Socialist. Salvatore is the newer one, apparently Ginger's is kind of the general standby.

I've thought about reading some about him, I really don't know that much, should know more, really.
