Smile Sergio Martinez to face Daniel Santos on February 14th?

If Santos agrees, this would be a good fight!!

Much better than Martinez vs Greene.

This will be a great fight night paired up with Angulo/Mayorga, and Campbell vs Funeka.

Martinez-Santos added to HBO's Feb. 14 card - Bad Left Hook

I wonder what fight will fill the void on the Berto/Collazo card now?

I'd still take Martinez to win, but Santos is always dangerous with that power he has, should be a great fight.

Good fight, Santos knocks him out to set up a big fight finally.

He's going to be one of the big stars of 2009 maybe even getting in the p4p rankings with a win over Williams or Margarito imo

Do you think the same argument could be made for Dzinzurik (sp?)?

He has beat Joel Julio, Lucas Konecny (sp?), and Daniel Santos, and is 34-0.

Wow I have to say he somehow completely avoided my radar. I never knew he beat julio and with wins over Santos and Lujon he does indeed seem to imprressive.

I';ll have to download the Julio fight somehow missed that completely.

What's he like? I see he doesn't have much knockout power, all of his recent wins going the distance and that he's won quite a few wins on points in Germany which can be hard to gauge.

I've never seen him fight but will have to check him out for sure.

Still can't believe Julio lost to him and I didn't even know the fight took place

Daniel Santos never beat Antonio Margarito, and the only reason he was able to rock Antonio Margarito in there 2nd fight. Was because he was 170 pounds, and had a big weight advantage.

Antonio Margarito would of stopped Daniel Santos in the later rounds, had it not been for Antonio Margarito's badly cut eye cut which was caused by an accidental headbutt.

It was a hometown decision for Daniel Santos, no doubt he was competitive. But actually score that fight RBR and i think its virtually impossible to have Daniel Santos winning if your not biased.

By the way i wasn't sure if you was talking about Daniel Santos getting a win against Antonio Margarito. In the future or you was on about there 2nd fight, regardless i just gave my two cents above.

I'm just saying I've got a feeling that Santos will have a big 2009 with a fight and victory over a really high profile opponents, Margarito or Williams for example.

    He's a talented fighter.

Let's ask Margarito what he thinks

Well I guess they are only going to show the Berto/Collazo fight next week.

At least according to Dan Rafael in his chat just now. This is what he said about the whole situation.

Here's the deal with that: Berto-Collazo will air as one fight only next week. On Feb. 14, we will see Angulo-Mayorga and Campbell-Funeka. HBO is also finalizing the Santos-Martinez fight. The Martinez side is done, from what Lou DiBella told me last night. HBO and King have made their deal for Santos. The remaining aspect of the deal that needs to be finished is for King to make his deal with Santos. I believe it will happen and if it does, it is an absolutely sensational tripleheader.

Default Daniel Santos will fight with Sergio " Maravilla " Martinez !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Santos in San Valentin days will defend his Title in February 14 with Sergio " Maravilla " Martinez in a bout of Don King Promotion.......where probably could be present it in Puerto Rico .....................

Santos had the obligation to travel to Japan in January (this month) to defend his Title but was canceled..............but now has the offer and the opportunity to fight with Sergio Martinez in where the fight with Joe Greene was suspended due Health problem .................

Although in this bout we will see Nate Campbell vs Ali Funeka.............

Well now I just read that this fight is not a done deal. Santos is letting people know that he did not agree to fight on this date, and that Don King put out the press release to pressure him into taking the fight.

Santos says that he wouldn't have enough time to train for this date, and that he won't be ready to fight until after March.

Personally, I hope Martinez goes after Forrest, I think he should have been doing that instead of fighting Joe Greene.

Too bad Santos turned it down, that would have been a great fight, and at least with Santos it would have been for his belt.

I bet Forrest gives up the belt before facing Martinez. I don't think he wants any part of him, and because he actually thinks that he can get a big money fight.

I agree. Is Paul Williams a big money fight? Would he take that fight? Who else is big money at that weight?
