ought to be interesting...
Most bad government has grown out of too much government. Thomas Jefferson
Hypothetically, I find this to be a very interesting match up. However, it's the heavies, so I honestly find it very hard to care all that much or to get seriously interested. I'll definitely be watching it though, the potential for a Chambers win is there.
I didn't hear about it happening....hell yeah, I am pleased with this fight. Eddie Chambers has the skill to box Sam Peter's ears off....Sam has struggled in his last couple of fights and he needs a win to get back to where he can contend.
I never thought that highly of Sam Peter, I was always realistic about his power after everyone fell in love with the guy when he KO'd Jeremy Williams. I think if Sam Peter changed trainers and learned how to open up an opponent for the KO then I think he could be dangerous for anyone to fight. The problems Sam has are: he's got slow feet, he has heavy hands, he doesn't like throwing combinations, and his defense isn't all that great as he doesn't move his head or his feet all too much. Sam needs to shorten up on his punches, try not to KO somebody with every punch and I am thinking if he was taught James Toney's defense he would do a lot better.
Eddie Chambers just needs to throw more punches....if he's able to fight for a full 10-12 rounds then he is also a dangerous fighter. He has good punching power for as light as he is.
If they just focused in on what he did in the 2nd Toney fight. Peter (for Peter) was amazing. He was light on his feet, even bouncing a couple times and didn't look for a KO. He actually utilized a jab and took power shots when power shots were actually available. Sam needs to stay under 250 (I'd like to see him get down to 240) and learn how to move his head and develop a guard.
I said years ago he needs to drop his trainer. The guy has taken Sam as far as he possibly can. It may have to do with Peter not being willing to do what he's told.
I think Peter will win this one. In his loss to Wladimir he did what you might consider well (in his mind) by knocking him down 3 times and taking Wlad's punches up until the closing seconds of the last round. He probably did no retooling after that. But there's no kidding himself that he was completely outclassed by Vitali and I think he is doing some retooling. Peter will get lazy again, but he'll be on point against Chambers. Eddie has a good guard, but he lets guys hit him to the body. If they watch tape they'll see that Peter can bomb him to the gut and what happened to Chambers when he tasted a little bit of Povetkin's power? He clammed up and cruised to an L. I think Peter will test him to that soft body and Chambers will repeat his performance against Povetkin. Sam won't respect his power and walk through whatever he throws to do what he wants. It's not like Chambers moves around. He's extremely stationary and that's bad against a heavy-handed fighter.
