Woah, could be big news. He's a bit older than you'd like for a guy just starting out but he was probably the best Cuban, better than Gamboa.
its on boxingscene, he's signed with that same nutjob Oner that all the other Cubans have.

Worse still, the journos are going to have a fit trying to spell his name.![]()
This is exciting.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Rigondeaux is AWESOME, I think his last fight was in 2007. This is HUGE news, news that's been 2 years in the making to be honest it was 2007 when he last fought. I hope he's matched competitively from the very beginning of his career and is fast-tracked to a title.
OMFG!@!!!!!, one of my top 5 favorite fighters all time... wow this is amazing. I hope he climbs the ranks quickly.
At 28-29 years old i dont think it is too late for him to make a big impact on the pro ranks, particularly as he has had a couple of years off. Casamayor started fairly late as well and he had a good career. If anything Rigondeaux is more talented than Joel. Time will tell.
Any idea when his first fight will be?
Theyre going to have to put him on a fast track and keep him busy like Gamboa, cause at 28 years old with around 250 amateur fights, he could end up getting old faster than most fighters. Im sure hell do fine though and will probably be a force in a few years. First things first though, and lets see how he fights as a pro cause its something hes never done and its another world.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
Gamboas always been busy though. Guillermo hasnt fought in two years. That are a lot of unknown factors, thats all im saying. I hope he does well cause he is an amazing talent. The pros is a lot different though so we will see how he adapts....On another note Ahmet Oner is really becoming a kingpin in the sport. He wastes no time signing these guys. He must be public enemy #1 to the Cuban govt.

Gamboa doesn't party? Where the hell do you get your information?
