Default Boxing, MAB, and Broken Hearts

Never Fall in Love With a Fighter. If you do, he'll break your heart just about every time.

Joe Louis did it against Marciano in 1951

Muhammad Ali did it when he fought Holmes in 1980

Matthew Saad Muhammad (1992): Watching him get KOd by Jason Waller in his last tiff was not pleasant, partuclularly when you consider that Waller finished with a grim mark of 28 (KO 19) - 34 (KO 22)-4.

Leonard and Duran (1997-99) against Camacho and Joppy, respectively, were gut wrenching to witness.

Mike Tyson (2004-5) After Lewis KOd him in 2002, "Iron Mike" redeemed himself to some extent with a spectacular icing of Clifford "The Black Rhino" Etienne in just seconds. However, that set him up for his big fall when he was taken out viciously by Danny Williams in just four rounds. Hulking Kevin McBride then put a finisher on the gut wrenching process when Mike inceredibly quit on his stool in D.C.

Julio Cesar Chavez (2000-5) seeing him getting dismantled by Kostya Tszyu was brutal, but seeing him lose to limited Grover Wiley five years later was even worse

Oscar De La Hoya was recently subjected to a Pac-Man mugging and it was a sad shocker to his many fans.

Now, it's Marco Antonio Barrera’s turn to break hearts as he loses to a much younger fighter in an all-too-familiar scenario.

But isn't that what generally occurs when you get too close to a fighter?

The king is dead / long live the king.
Thats always been the cry of the noble art of boxing.
Manny who put all their eggs in the one basket and only talk up and follow one fighter all have it comming harder than others who follow the whole sport

    . n whoops.

RJJ v Calzaghe was hard to watch. I just hope he dont get taken out by Sheika!
Holyfield is hard to watch too.
The last few fights Morales had didnt do him justice.
I remember being gutted when Jeff Fenech got KO'd by feather fisted Grove.

The list is almost endless in boxing!

Guys like him, Tszyu, maybe Calzaghe, Lewis, and even Hamed are smart to retire before they get hurt bad. No good having loads of money if your brain is mush.
