We've had a few lists for who should retire but can you offer thoughts on fighter that retired too early perhaps whilst still on their game with a lot to offer?

I think Calzaghe could have stayed at the top for another fight or two. Marciano possibly too. Both fighters seem to have had issues getting motivated towards the end, so perhaps made the right decisions.
How does Boozeboxer post on threads when he knows nothing about boxing?

To clarify, I know he did retire then come back for two fights but the loss to Cruz followed by the death of his father forced him to retire first time. When he came back his heart wasn't in it as he said his father was who inspired him. Still one of the most suspect match ups, send an Irish fighter to fight a Texan in the full sweltering heat in the desert under the ring lights...........led to an ever so slight falling out in the camp later !!

Though I am a Rocky fan, Marciano would have had a damn tough time with guys like Patterson and Johanssen who were just coming up as well as a very young Sonny LIston.
He was already getting really unmotivated and fat and bald and eating too much lasagne and bracciole. Take it from me, one who is like him in terms of the same ethnicity.
George Foreman, yeah definitely--always wondered why there was no rematch with Ali.
Lennox Lewis...??!! NO WAY, if that guy hadnt retired when he did, he wouldve made a large mistake in it.
Naseem Hamed he was only 28 he still had alot to offer and Lennox lewis should have fought Vitali again just to shut him up

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I don't think he could have offered much more post Barrera though. His comeback was awful. He did seem to be short of the mental stamina needed to stay at the top. And his activity since has proven it. You compare a fighter like Naseem to Barrera and laugh. Hamed got worse as he developed, a comeback would have been scary.
