Default Fighters From Europe Are really overrated

No offense to anyone here, but since this is a message board, I have to call it the way I see it. And after reading quite a few posts and threads here, Euro fighters get way overhyped by the media and by their fanboys.

    A few on the list:
Rickey Hatton, Nigel Benn, Prince Naseem, Mighty Mike, Henry Cooper, Lennox Lewis, Joe Calzaghe, Dariusz Michalczewski, Max Schmeling, Frank Bruno, etc.

A prime example would be everyone on this board was going on and on about how Hatton and some in the media was going to knock out Floyd then later Pacman in a few rounds. And that Floyd and Pacman were garbage fighters who cherry pick their fights and fought at home. But I guess fighting 90% of your fights against bums and in England or other places in Europe isn't right?

And then when these Euro fighters beat elite fighters that are shot or past their primes like Calzaghe against Hopkins, JOnes Jr. as if its a celebration. And Nigel Benn revered in England ducked a prime Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins and would only want to fight them in Wembley. lol

Now I know some people wants to root for one of their own, but come on and be realistic. Sorry to say this but most fighters from Europe are really overrated. Hatton, Prince Naseem, Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno, etc. That Hatton and Pacman fight was plain garbage, Pacman and Floyd fought a club fighter that didnt' belong in the ring with them.

Welcome aboard....but i have to disagree. There are plenty of good fighters from europe, ghana, the u.s. all over the place. Where the best are from is another argument that is a waste of time but doesn't make any of them automatically over-rated. Better to make this claim on an individual basis instead of blasting a whole country. As hated as he is i remember seeing "the prince" wearing quite a few belts over the years, if he was overrated then the fighters out there now and in the past who never got any of them should be first on the list.

Every country overrates their fighters to some degree, it's human nature, it aint exclusive to Europe

I'm a fight fan and have pretty good knowledge on the sport and probably might learn more at this forum, but I look at things objectively or try to.

And now there is all this hoopla and hype about Mighty Mike Arnaoutis. Some folks on here talking about that he's going to knock out Mayweather or Pacman if they meet up. Does he even belong in the same sentence with those 2? Yeah Mighty Mike will knock those 2 out maybe 8 years from now when Floyd and Manny are shot fighters and are still fighting because they need to pay their taxes.

Maybe the last all time geat European fighter was Bob Fitzsimmons when the Marquess of Queensbury Rules started to be implemented in boxing. I think you have to go back that far for a great European fighter.

HAHAHAHAHA i think i just shit i laughed that hard.

This must be a joke or an absolute legend of a poster who doesn't know about the Mighty Mike joke!

EDIT: I really don't think he knows the mighty mike thing is a joke. Altho Pac is clearly ducking him. Everyone can see that, even Stevie Wonder.

You do realise that the Mighty Mike Arnaoutis thread on here was a massive, blatant joke to wind some pacfans up? You weren't stupid enough to think that it was serious were you?

Also plenty of British boxing fans picked PBF to school and stop Hatton and for Pacman to do the same as long as he could handle the size difference. I would like to see the legions of people you seem to be talking about.

Every country will get a little excited over their fighters... Lacy was the next big thing at Super Middle weight... look at him now. Chad Dawson is going to be the next big thing at thing at Light Heavy, once he can dominantly beat an old ex-crack head and Sam Peter was the second coming of George Foreman.

    Shit job trolling.

    Nooooooo!!! This cannot be so!!

Actually, I don't see too many European fighters being overhyped so I don't know what this thread is all about.

Fighters like Hamed, Hatton, Calzaghe and so on were all good fighters. Calzaghe on his day could be a lot more than good. But I don't see anything overhyped about those fighters.

Rickey Hatton in the same league as Floyd and Pacman? Does a overrated club fighter belongs in the same ring as those 2? Hatton is a smaller and poor man's Jake La Motta. And Prince Naseem that people on this board are defending as an elite fighter from past few posts. The one that got badly exposed by MAB? And now there is all this hype with Mighty Mike. The best complete fighter of the 21st century? Now that's an overhype statement.

Europe produces some good talent but not elite all time talent, and no where near the level that North America, carribean, and Latin American countries produce.

Europe has never produce an elite fighter in the same class as, Muhammad ALi, Joe Louis, Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Jake Lamotta, Willie Pep, Henry Armstrong, Marvin Hagler, Archie Moore, Thomas Hearns, etc.

Normally, I wouldn't answer to this thread for obvious reasons but sometimes temptation is soooo strong... argghhhh

Europe formed some of the best boxers in history and this modern era is filled with talent. Yeah, some have been overrated, but isn't it the case everywhere? America and Canada had tons of boxers who have been overrated through the ages, promoters are behind most men, there is always and will always be some of these that will be able to hype a man to the maximum before the curtains fall and the truth discovered. If there is something, the danger of a hyped boxer might be greater in north america as promoters over here, in general, are a bit more powerful and where the network tvs are a lot richer than their rivals. Saying that european fighters are overrated or less talent than in the rest of the world is a total nonsense, it sounds like an aging Don Cherry stating that hockey players in Europe aren't that good, total and plain nonsense.

This is ridiculous. Next you'll be claiming that Sven Ottke was overrated.
