So what's up with all these self-promoters now? We have Mayweather Promotions, Marquez Promotions, Hatton Promotions, Golden Boy Promotions (even when Oscar was still active). What's the deal here?
So who else out there is self-promoting?

What exactly do promoters even do thoNegotiate? because isn't that what the lawyers do...I always just thought of promoters as leeches.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Forgot to add Joe Calzaghe as well.

A few others I know are:
Manny Pacquiao promotions (Although working with Top Rank)
Roy Jones Jr
Jeff Lacy
Willie Limond
I nearly made a thread about this a while back.
When you get as big as De La Hoya, PBF, Hatton, Marquez etc you don't need a promoter anymore. I think it's good for boxing, they can relate to the fighters and will no doubt look after them better than the Warrens, Kings, Arums and all the rest of them, plus they are taking money for promoting.
I'd rather have a fighter/ex fighter as a promoter over any of the ones I mentioned.
Miguel Cotto also has his own promotion company
David Diaz also has his own. Crap promotions
I think it's not before time. It's about time someone put an end to the Bob Arum / Don King gravy train. I particularly don't like Arum, he's slimy little S.O.B. Unlike most I don't have much of a problem with Don King. He loves boxing and you have to give a man credit for staying on top for as long as he has. But anyway, I think promoters who were ex-fighters or current fighters are more *likely* to be on the boxers side than some NEVER boxed, NEVER trained, NEVER did any type of 1 on 1 unarmed combat promoter. You hear me Frank Warren ?
