Ray Mercer is fighing MMA?

A buddy texted me tonight asking who Ray Mercer was? I wasn't thinking and I said a comedian who used to pull phone pranks.

Then I remembered Ray Mercer......the ancient HW boxer and corrected myself. Anyway he said that Ray was fighting one of those MMA or UFC type deals this weekend.



Surely this can't be true. Ray is like 55.

Yeah, as stated above, Mercer has fought several MMA type fights. In all of them he has shown up out of shape, and quit pretty quickly.

It is really just a case of him picking up a paycheck.

They apparently just changed the format and this WILL be MMA rules...Tim Sylvia is the embodiment of what Ihate about MMA, I'd love for Ray to whip his ass!

Since as Lyle pointed out, it has now been changed to an MMA bout, that is what I expect him to do.

Show up for a pay check and get his ass whipped or tapped out. Probably tapped out.

He had a good chance of winning a boxing match.

But virtually NO CHANCE of winning an MMA bout against the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.

I know most boxing fans won't care but credit to the 49 year old Mercer who was expected to lose and came to fight. Good showing for boxing and how boxing is clearly a more developed sport for punching
