Default Hopkins turned down a fight with Kessler

I would've liked to see that fight. At first glance I assumed Hopkins would win it, but Kessler is a very good boxer in his own right and he could easily outwork Hopkins.

would've been a good one.. Kessler is a great boxer but he got frustrated w/ calzaghe's angles and tricks and i think hopkins would land some quick shots to keep Kessler apprehensive about throwing a ton of punches.

$4 million is not a great deal of money to be honest, when Bernard has to travel to Denmark, im not suprised he turned it down.

Im sure Hopkins could easily make $4 million fighting anybody he wanted in the USA.

The article says that Kessler was willing to come to the States.

4 million dolars a joke? I think that's hilarious. I mean shit he is already a millionaire. He only fought Oscar for about 8 million I think 4 million is pretty damn good for fighting Kessler. No one really knows who Kessler is in the states I would definitley take it.

Hopkins is only interested in super-fights if he's going to fight again and I'm not convinced he is, I think he's waiting Calzaghe out a bit longer and will then call it a day. It will be hard for him to top the Pavlik fight in terms of a 'name' opponent, and I think only Adamek at CW offered something that was maybe worth it. I don't see him going out fighting Froch or Kessler, and I think by the end of the summer he will have called it a day.

Hopkins is 44 years old and sooner or later Father time will really catch up with him.

Not that I really care much about this but wouldn't that be a reason not to take it, not the other way around? And 4 million would be less of a joke if he wasn't a millionaire.

If I was to take it seriously I would wonder what's going on with Kessler. This seems almost like posturing. He just needs to fight, anybody. If Bernard wants this fight he would set the terms, I always laugh at people calling him out, he is clearly not going to have terms dictated to him. Not by Kessler at least.

He's locked in a legal battle with his soon to be former promoter. He can't fight until it gets resolved (I think). I assume the supposed offer to Hopkins took place prior to this.

Kessler doesn't bring what Hopkins wants at this stage of his career...... Big money fights.

It would be a good fight and if it was to happen, i would seen Hopkins winning.

Not like you to be cynical about statements made by European boxers! After all, doesn't the phrase to "Welsh" on a deal mean to follow it through exactly as agreed .

If this is true then Mikkel Kessler has no one to blame but himself, what the hell has he done since losing to Joe Calzaghe. That makes him believe he deserves his shot against someone like Bernard Hopkins ?

Mikkel Kessler is a good fighter but he reminds me of Kelly Pavlik, except he is a better boxer and has a more array of punches. I can't see him doing that much better than Kelly Pavlik did, i see a 9-3, 8-4, victory for Bernard Hopkins here.

I actually like Kessler. But ever since the Miranda debacle, in which he punked out of a very win able fight I don't believe him.
