Who things MMA/UFC sucks? They start out fighting then one guy throws the other guy on the floor and starts pounding the guy. Next thing you know it's over. Sorry just don't get it.

No you're not the only one; some love it some don't.
Not everyone has the ability to box but like combat sports and want to compete. Some people grow up in areas where there aren't boxing gyms and learn wrestling from a young age, places like the midwest USA where wrestling is ingrained in them like football or baseball. Then they try to make it in MMA and learn some rudimentary boxing and other arts just because they like to compete. Guys like Marcus Davis who was a pro boxer but not ever going to be elite, so he transitioned into MMA because he likes to fight.
They are tremendous athletes though, for the most part, so give em' credit at least a bit.
As stated, you aren't the ONLY one. That being said, a lot of people don't appreciate MMA because they don't realize the skill involved on the ground. I have trained in MMA, and being on the ground is actually more difficult than stand-up (there are just so many ways to lose, and you cannot rest or back off your opponent).
It is simply different than boxing, not necessarily better, nor worse, but it is different skills.
