    Default FNF Thread 7/24/09

Well, well, well here we are again. This time Super Feathers comin at you from the Don Haskins center in El Paso Texas. The main event featuring Antonio Escalante 20-2 (13 KOs) who has made his presence known by absolutely crushing Mike Oliver (whom I consider to have some of the quickest hands in boxing(albeit with some of the worst footwork) ) and Gary Stark Jr. each in 3 rounds with multiple knockdowns, most likely the betting favorite tonight the 24 year old has shown amazing improvement over the last few years.

His opponent Cornelius Lock 18-3-1 (11 KOs) is coming in after a war of attrition against Roger "Speedy" Gonzalez, where he gutted out a 10th round stoppage in a fight going into that round could have gone either way. The question of ring rust has to be brought up as he hasn't been in the ring in over a year. Lock has the immense boxing knowledge of Roger Mayweather in his corner, which he will most definately need to employ in this fight.

The undercard looks pretty weak a showcase fight for Juan Carlos Velasquez 9-0 (5 KOs) and his twin brother Carlos Ivan Velazquez 10-0 (9 KOs)(both with Golden Boy Promotions)

Busy day of watching fights for me, already watched the Gatti-Ward trilogy, JML-Penalosa and Arreola-Walker. Before fnf is Ali-Blin on ESPN it's been a good day so far.

Just enough time for Berto/Collazo before the Ali showcase.

The only 2 sports I watch

I wish this match was over though; not sure why thy are showing Isner and Odesnik on ESPN; they are prospects and rather boring. Lead up to the USO though; so expect it for several weeks.
