Those guys arent impact players.. Knoblauch tanked it in NY and didnt do much as well as Canseco and Hill were platoon players.

The problem I have with the Red Sox and the majority of their fans, they try so hard not to be the yankees and act all high and mighty but in reality they are no better. I mean when The mitchell report came out it was all about the Yankee players who were juiced and the Sox fans were like, not our guys. though you can see Ramirez like Bonds and Sosa was substantially beefier than he was years ago and you could see Papi though always stout was alot smaller the past 2 years and breaking down more then during his juiced run with the sox. The guy cant hit worth a lick, the powers gone and he is striking out more and is way overmatched. You know who else will be on that list soon is Garciaparra. He all of a sudden was the wlalking Disabled list one day and is still in his early 30's and has been terribly overmatched for the past 5 years now.

You just dont stop being dynamic one day especially in your late 20's unless you were helped along the way.

as i said, i don't really care about the image the sox try to portray.. two of our best players were on roids, understood.. There were PLENTY of role players those two years when we won that had a lot to do with winning the championships they won, who as of right now have not been linked to any HGH/steroid use. NOTABLY their pitching: Schilling, Beckett, Papelbon, etc..

But to downplay the yankees steroid use is'nt going to work.. and PLATOON players?!?! give me a break..

I forgot to add David Justice (HGH) to that list also..

in the 2000 season: David Justice: 20 HR's.. Glenallen Hill: 16 HR's.. Canseco missed more than half of the season that year..

Knoblauch had 17 HR's in 1998 and 18 HR's in 1999..

for Pitching: petite was 19-9 and started 32 games..
clemens was 13-8 over 32 starts..
grimsley pitched in 62 games..



these are SIGNIFICANT contributions!! they were no derek jeter but to say they were just platoon players isn't even fair to THEM..

we obviously don't know who else was on steroids or HGH but the yankees won the last bulk of their championships in the heat of the roid era, and now they haven't won in several years, and the Sox have.. Let's put it this way, even if manny and papi were on roids, as far as we know, the team as a whole was clean.. until that is proven wrong then you have to foundation to argue on.

Yeah, you're SOOOO right JT, it's a damn shame that the clean players on the 2004 Yankees didn't get a shot to win the World Series, guys like: Gary Sheffield, Jason Giambi, Alex Rodriguez, Kevin Brown. It's not like the Sox were playing other clean teams, I think like Peter Gammons said, every Champion since 1989 probably had at least 1 juicer on their team.

This is just the era we live in...sure I'm disappointed in the results, but hell I wouldn't be shocked if any of the following current and former players used illegal substances: Ricky Henderson (he played with Big Mac and Jose and he was the FIRST power lead off hitter), Cal Ripkin (he's good buddies with Brady "I'll hit 50 HR's one year and never more than 20 any other year" Anderson), Mariano Rivera, Pedro Martinez, Albert Pujols, Evan Longoria, Albert Belle, Frank Thomas, Matt Williams, etc....I mean everything says guys are guilty these days, if they are injury prone like Griffey Jr., if they never get injured like Cal, if they are great as they get older like Nolan Ryan, if they start hitting better for seemingly no reason like Papi did then of course there will be questions and sometimes the answers aren't going to be all that great.

All Papi can do right now is just focus on winning and do it clean from now on.

If Mitchell had the list he would have implicated A-Rod too. Or maybe he had the list and couldn't implicate anybody because it wasn't really a test. Either way, he's a serious guy, he negotiated peace agreements in Northern Ireland of all things, I seriously doubt he's gonna sully his legacy just by ignoring Red Sox names on a positive test list.

Anyway I've gotten cynical about the whole thing, the year they came back from 3-1 to beat the Yankees and win the World Series they just had a better team of cheaters than the Yankees did.

Well if you're looking for somebody to blame, blame BUD SELIG, he turned a blind eye to this because he wanted the fans to come back to baseball after the strike. He could have ended it any time he wanted to....also the MLBPA shares blame because they dragged their feet to get testing in the MLB.
