When was Ricky Hatton in his prime!

In his last 4 fights he lost 2 of them, too the best £4£ on the planet.But the 2 that he won against Lazcano and Malignaggi are'nt world beaters even tho Malignaggi was an ex champ.

One of his best wins was against Luis Castillo but was he already past his best he looked good because imo Castillo fought Hattons sort of fight.

Did he spend his best years fighting the likes of Mike Stewart and Ray Olivera who are'nt bad fighters but they are'nt world class,did Frank Warren hold him back for too long and by the time the big fights came he was slightly past his best ?

i would'nt say that he was slighty missed timed in the world stage.Hatton has fought who he needed to fight to get where he got and his record is nothing to be shamed about.The only thing that i would of liked is Hatton to have fought Witter but that wont happen now will it?Hatton is passed it now i think,i love the bloke but them heavy drinking sessions have caught up with him now.Hatton will fight on but i hope he calls it a day if he gets badly tagged again like he did with Pacman.

Brawlers have short careers, no he wasn't pushed early, he had a good pace in competition incline during his career.

agree with you 100% littlebif. He was held back far too long in typical warren style. His prime was wasted somewhat, however i do feel he acheived far more than he seemed destined for. Until about 2003 he looked a european level fighter. Perhaps his wins over collazo, urango, actually represent good achievements rather than underperformances as they are usually seen. It could be said that this was hatton performing at his maximum, but following his win over Kostya his best was deemed to be far better than it actually was. hence his performances in these fights were deemed to be poor performances.

I don't know enough about Hatton pre-Tszyu to say when I think his prime began, but I feel his decline started after the Collazo fight. I really don't think he was ever the same afterwards.

Some are longer some are shorter.

Hattons prime was on 06/04/2005.
