Default Mayweather Says He's Not The Greatest, But The Best

Floyd Mayweather says he’s not the Greatest, but the Best Ever | Now Boxing

I actually think this should get a lot of people off Floyd's back as far as his claims of being the greatest ever. He's not the greatest because he doesn't have the wins, but he is clearly one of the best, most talented fighters in history. If you believe differently that he's not at least in the discussion of most talented fighters of all time, then you are probably in denial. It's his belief he's the very best and I don't think I have a problem with that. Haha the last question sounds like the writer is calling Floyd gay

He wasn't claiming he wasn't the greatest because he doesn't have the wins, just that the title of 'the greatest' was Ali's catchphrase and therefore he's made up his own, being 'the best ever'.

He still thinks he's the best fighter ever, just he doesn't want to use a phrase coined by Ali, he wants people to sum up his legacy using his own catchphrase.

That's even more arrogant if you ask me.

He does at one point say he might be just one of the best Whatever, either way its not a big deal. I would actually agree with the idea that he's not the greatest (as in he doesn't have the accomplishments) but he is one of the best (as in he's one of the most talented fighters ever.)

The title got me I guess this was just a sympathetic reach to Majesty but you guys ruined it. Floyd doesn't talk about his personal life? He'll say bad things about family but won't talk about women? Kind of.

Fair enough. I think he is too. He's the best right now, and because of advancements in the sport and athletic technology, he would beat any greats of the past. It's only common sense.
I think that's just a realistic view. He's said it how it is since the beginning. Remember, it isn't bragging if you can back it up

You know the sad part about all this is Mayweather COULD have had the full backing of US boxing fans. He only has himself to blame that he hasnt.
He was born with incredible natural boxing talents But it seems he was given the heart of the cowardly lion & not a champions heart. He blatently avoided all dangerous opponents & took the big$$$$ less risk fights. His ludicrous "Retirement in tears" was a farcealso.
I hope he is serious in that he will fight Manny Paquaio but I'll believe in when he's in the ring not until.

Agreed. But my biggest problem with him is his whole attitude and scorn toward the others. I, among other things, digest very bad when he said to Gatti that he was just a Gym club boxer, a C class boxer.

X2, dont be clouded by the hollow 0 in his boxing record, to paraphrase R.A. The Rugged Man.. "I can beat 50 girls and be undefeated". Of course his well documented avoidance of any dangerous fighters wouldnt be that big an issue except for this constant "Im the best ever" bullshit and total hypocrisy that he just throws in the face of boxing fans. Dont even get me started on his dad lol

To be the best you have to beat the best and that's where greatness comes into it. So he is not the best either.
