Why not?? Hatton was realistically a much better fighter than Juan Diaz ever was, it's hardly as though Malignaggi has vastly improved as a fighter.. Hatton was an excellent fighter in some rights, and had all the right advantages over Paulie. He had quick feet, good output and aresenal of punches, dug the body well and coult cut off the ring properly. Paulie is really almost useless against a guy who can do so and employ an effective offense. He can't punch worth shit, he's not to accurate, doesn't have great speed, no real ring generalship... Blah I haven't even seen the fight tonight I shouldn't really type anymore.

Agreed. For me, Hatton and Cotto are a class beyond any fighter that Malignaggi has beaten. Hatton gets underrated on the back of his recent losses, but he really was an excellent fighter on his day. Malignaggi can outwork the likes of Diaz handily, but you raise the bar significantly higher and he begins to struggle.

I think Malignaggi would have quite a few problems with Bradley. I would quite like to see Malignaggi against Khan because I think it would be hilarious to see Malignaggi shake him up a little and think he would too.

I don't like the Baby Bull either. By the way... neutral site my ass. I wouldn't have been surprised to see Paulie robbed there also. Luckily, the crowd didn't sway the judges, and in the end they saw and judged it correctly.

Well, I'm a big Juan Diaz fan and I hated that I knew Malignaggi was going to beat him. I dislike Paulie, but I knew he got robbed. I don't think Juan was off his game, I think any slick fighter is going to give Juan fits. Juan does his best work against opponents who stand still. I'm hoping he can turn it around, that he can learn something new- he's still a young guy. Maybe his trainer may have taken him as far as he can go, but I doubt he changes. Juan seems like a very loyal guy.

How many right hands did Paulie throw against Hatton?
    Obviously his hand was broken.

Another thing i would like to point out.

Paulie didn't dominate, he did win clearly but Diaz had more success than the thread title suggests.

I agree, I just watched the fight and thought it was going to be completely one sided, but Paulie was definitely comfortable the whole fight and he did let Diaz come at him I think to build up the action a bit. He was flat footed a lot more this fight. Even said at the end he did that cause the backing up looked bad to the judges. Either way it was a good fight, I really enjoy Paulie

Diaz did seem off to me though, not sure if Paulie just ripped his heart out from the beginning or what.
McGirt recalling the minute break between the 9th round of the Ward fight "He said, 'Help me stand up and I'll finish the fight.'"

Tactically Paulie Malignaggi did dominate Juan Diaz, he was always in control. Keeping his jab in Juan Diaz's face, constantly moving giving Juan Diaz a different look never giving Juan Diaz much of a chance to get set.

Infact IMO i think Juan Diaz only won rounds, when Paulie Malignaggi clowned too much and let Juan Diaz out land him on the ropes. Except for the few spurts Juan Diaz had when he was able to get in punching range, and really and truthfully it was only a few times.

He looked totally frustrated and could never get set, and i had Paulie Malignaggi a wide points winner. Paulie Malignaggi is a good fighter with some nice skills, but he's far too inconsistent for my liking to ever be a fan. And some of that clowning is really uncalled for at times. I just wish he would stop that BS and just get on with the fight.
