    Default What next for paulie??

He`s just outboxed a very talented fighter in diaz and all indications would suggest its time for malignaggi to get back in with the big boys ala:bradley, maidana, khan

But then you take a look at his record and the fact he scores a knockout every full moon. The guys character is sellable in the sport of boxing, he`s loud, flash and has the skills to back it up.

But will paulie ever be able to claim a place amongst the bigboys of his division until he gets his KO percentage anywhere near reasonable??

yes - imo he would beat bradley, and i rate bradley quite highly. Same with maidana. Kahn would be a really good fight, wouldnt be shocked to see paulie put him on his ass

He's too inconsistent to even be considered among the elite of the division. He's always going to be just a step below. Out of the three names you mentioned, I'd only really give him a shot against Maidana who's still largely unproven.

beggining to think i was on my own for a moment there

Paulie did every single thing required of him saturday night yet once again barely a shred of praise on here. Had diaz of won posters would of been creaming themselves to praise him. Yet not a single PM appreciation thread (i cant be the only guy who was roaring "paulie" "paulie" at my pc screen on sat??)

Diaz isnt all of a sudden a bad fighter. But for the second time in a row he got outclassed by a far better fighter who is destined to spend his career as an also ran because of boxing politics!!

That's not true. It's because Paulie talks a lot of trash and has virtually nil to back it up in the power department. It's a fact: if you knock guys out people will put up with your trash talk. Or even if you brawl and deck guys who don't stop coming. Paulie has 5 KOs in his entire pro career and talks as if he's already in the boxing hall of fame. If he talked a little less while outpointing fighters he'd be given a lot more of a benefit of the doubt. When Paulie is on his game he's Mayweather-light, but in the mouth department he's Mayweather-heavy, but he doesn't come close to being Floyd. There's no threat to him, no menace. Even when Shane was going through a KO drought he was still a guy who had a good deal of menace. You knew if the proper opportunity came he was going to hurt someone. I might lose, but I would have no fear of fighting him as a 6' tall, 175lb out of shape guy. Paulie is like 90% of the guys who talk trash on the street: it sounds good to the ear, but there isn't too much to back it up. I respect the hell out of him for beating Diaz, but look at how Juan was beating guys. He wore fighters down to nubs and made them quit. He'd hit guys with 4 and 5 punch combos and made opponents look like they were standing still. And he wasn't doing it against scrubs, either. His problem is he's easy to figure out if you are a slick fighter and he was ready-made for someone like Paulie.

I think he fights Khan next on the undercard of the Manny-Floyd superfight, Khan is going to fight a fighter with a decent name without any ko power for his US debut and Paulie fits that criteria.

It's because Paulie is a complete assclown, horrible to watch, and entirely incapable of beating elite fighters. Your thinly veiled approach to inflate Hatton's recent form is quite pathetic. Maybe it was actually his brother in there with Lazcano, and then again against PAcquiao? Ricky just stepped in between two beat this monster Paulie. I mean there's no way he would've been in trouble in other fights but not against this guy... Diaz clearly isn't the same fighter he was a couple of years ago, and if you think that Paulie dominated the first fight by anywhere near the same margin he did the rematch your on glue.

That was probably a bit much. Paulie does deserve credit for the fight, and he boxed to the best of his ability. He is also clearly a factor at 140 and capable of beating some good fighters. I seriously hardly give him any chance against Bradley though, and I wouldn't call Tim quite an elite guy yet. I think he could beat Maidana, Torres, Urango, D Hopkins etc. He and Lamont Peterson would be a tough one to call imo. I think Khan would probably outbox him quite handily, Hatton beats him again, etc.

In reality Diaz has lost four of his last five ( yes im including the first Paulie win ) What did you expect people to come out and say wow Paulie your a legend slayer? He did what everyone expected.

Bradley would easily beat Malignaggi wouldnt even be competitive, I think Devon Alexandar beats him to Paulie is decent fighter who just drops short imo when it comes to the big boys.

Narrowly lost to Cotto ?? That wasnt a narrow loss have you seen the fight mate? Cotto smashed him up? Paulie got all the plaudits cos he is a tough son of a bitch who survived a bad beating in that fight.

Also your argument of fighter A beating beating fighter B means they would look better or worst against fighter C.

So on the flipside do you think Alexander and Bradely would struggle so badly with N'Dou and Ngoudjo. All I know is id have the house on Bradley to do a number on Paulie.

Narrowly? He got smashed to pulp and even got his jaw mashed, he won the minimum rounds allowed to save a part of the honors.
