Default The real reason most will be rooting for Pac-man

Some people on this site think that I'm an anti-mayweather guy. That my favorite fighter is whoever is fighting Mayweather at the time. Not true at all. I thought Mayweather was truly amazing when I watched him in that Gatti fight. Come on, who the hell pitches a shutout in a boxing match?!! I've rooted for Floyd in almost every match he's fought. (I rooted for Baldomir when they fought but we knew how that was going to go the minute it was scheduled). It's all about the fighters attitude here. All the true boxing fans have heard both of these fighters attitude towards their fights. Floyds attitude is "Don't get hit, hit the other guy when you can, take no chances, low risk, doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Get in, get out, win, and get your check". A purely selfish attitude and to his credit that has served him well. There is nothing wrong with that attitude because as history has taught us, this is a sport that can mentally and physically damage you for life and in some cases, end your life. But as a fan of boxing one has to love Manny's attitude towards a fight. He firmly believes that boxer's responsibility transcends himself and passes to his fans. He believes he has a responsibility to make the fight entertaining and he has delivered on this every single time he has stepped into that ring. In this respect, he truly is the peoples champion. Let me know what you think.

I`ll be cheering on whoever represents the best value for money

If floyd mayweather starts the fight at evens i`ll be cheering my ass off with hundred quid at stake

If however pac goes out any higher than the 7/4 currently on offer i`ll be a pacfan on the night

I dont see this fight starting even. I don't see Floyd starting any fight with the odds makers saying he may lose or even that his oponnent is even with him

The answer to this question holds in in 2 words: Floyd's attitude.

Exactly. People think boxing is American Idol or something. Personality should have nothing to do with how great a boxer is, skillwise. Mayweather is the bext boxer in recent years. As much as I love Pacquiao, his skill level is nowhere near Mayweather's. That's all that should matter in boxing. Who is the most skilled. Not who is the nicest & humblest guy. That's teeny-bopper mentality.

Nowadays it isn't enough to be the best boxer of your generation. Now you have to be a media darling.

Fighting for the fans can be a big mistake, look at Erik Morales for example. When he first fought Manny he won with complete ease leaving no doubts about his victory. He boxed Manny, kept him at distance, moved out of the way whenever Manny did his famous left jab - left jab- straight left charge. Even the crowd was chanting "Ooooleeeee" just like when a matador moves out of the way from the bull's charging attack. Anyways, on his second fight, he said that he wanted to please the crowd and get in there and exchange with Manny, and we all know what happened on the 2nd and 3rd fight when he wanted to "please the fans".

Was Erik being nice to the fans while the fans were being selfish demanding an action-packed fight that cost him his first KO losses?

Getting in there and throwing punches at will doesn't necessarily make a fighter smart. Exciting? I guess. Smart? Not so sure.

You act like the first fight was a blowout? It was a very close match (I believe 115-113 on all scorecards). Pacquiao suffered a huge cut which was blinding him at one point. I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure the cut was from a headbutt also. To say the reason erik lost by knockout both fights was because he wanted to please the crowd is a little ubsurd. Pacquiao simply has become more seasoned every fight since then, and his resume shows it. Morrales had no chance of "Boxing" him in the third fight, because Manny was in his grill the moment the bell rang until Morrales quit!

I'm guessing that's one of his alts. It's estimated that he's got at least 3 or 4 alts still active on here. That's not counting the original one & the many obvious ones since his banning that have also been banned.

What I don't get about this whole thing is why anyone would care who another person supports. I want Floyd to win, but I couldn't give a flying fuck if every other human being on the planet wanted Manny to win.
I really don't think he's Xadu. Different posting style and he's shown an interest in fighters beyond Pacquiao.

Intazzz on the other hand I have some suspicions about.

most fans rooted from jmm in the floyd fight. i can't see any difference here. mostly boxing fans will root for whoever floyd is fighting against maybe becoz floyd is not that likeable as a person. great boxing skills but has $hitty personality.

You're right. It was a competitive match but was clear Erik won that fight with no doubts or questions like, say, both Pac fights vs Marquez. Even Larry Merchant asked Erik after the fight why he even went as far as changing to a southpaw stance and Erik answer was "Larry, did you enjoy it?" showing he did it just to please the crowd regardless of being in a bigger risk. Still, going in there to throw punches at will isn't necessarily smart or good for the guy in the ring. Styles make fights .

I will be rooting for Pacman because of his style and character. Mayweather has never really excited me as a fighter and his antics outside the ring turn me off big time. I've only ever supported him against DLH and that was for tactical reasons. I didn't like either guy in that.

Mind you, I'm not impressed with this alleged refusal to submit to blood testing. But let's wait and see whether that has any merit or not.
