Default Khan wants to leave Warren...

If England's Amir Khan wants to hang on to his junior welterweight belt, he'll next face interim titlist Marcos Maidana of Argentina after a purse bid was called Tuesday for their mandatory fight. The bid will take place Jan. 18 in the WBA offices in Panama.

There have been questions about whether Khan would accept a fight with the dangerous-punching Maidana, an opponent Khan trainer Freddie Roach isn't interested in.

Khan visited the United States recently and met with Top Rank and Golden Boy officials to shop for a new promotional deal, according to a source with knowledge of the visits.

Khan believes his deal with British promoter Frank Warren is up. Warren, of course, believes otherwise. However, Khan, who wants to fight in America, couldn't get an offer better than the one Warren has on the table for him to fight Maidana, so he may accept the Maidana bout after all and fight for Warren if he wins the purse bid. HBO has designs on televising Khan's next fight, which is ticketed for March.

Khan successfully defended his 140-pound title for the first time Dec. 5 with a 76-second knockout of Dmitriy Salita. Maidana defended his interim belt Nov. 21, knocking out William Gonzalez in the third round.

Warren is a joke why does he always think the fighters are contracted to him when they never are? So for the next few years we will get the Warren column which will now include how Hatton has always been crap doesnt live the right life, Calzaghe had phantom injuries and I guess his new one will be Khan will never make it to the top because of his chin.

    I hope Khan leaves Warren.

In all honesty, I think Khan would be better off with out Warren.
We might see Khan in pick up fights, rather than the Warren route which to me isn't really boxing. Over-rated, past it, much smaller powder puff punchers....I can't stand that stuff. It's not boxing to me, it's prize fighting.

What we want to see is just how good Amir Khan is. We want to see him up against a dangerous and decent boxer who can dig, and is world class.

    warren cant win really..

he gets accused of holding fighters back ala:calzaghe, hatton yet when he sent bruno out to fight tyson he got lynched for it

maidana is a very dangerous fight to take. But he`s no better than kotelnik and a similar khan than beat him will take maidana every day of the week.

Khans career is still stagnating from the prescott farce. Had he not of taken that fight he would now already be in with the likes of paulie, diaz and bradley.

In my opinion khan beats all 3 of those

Warren is great at what he does the majority of fighters he has had that are remotley near to World Class he has made them millionaires without takeing much risk, but he needs to stop being bitter when these fighters want to move onto the next level which is fighting the best in the States, Warren is not a big promoter in the States he is a huge promoter in the UK. He needs to realise this and stop being a bitter old cunt.

I agree here. It seems he's the one who wants Khan in with the dangerous mandatory, whilst Roach would prefer Khan in with Malignaggi or someone. As big as Khan is in the UK, I'm not sure he's got a following that will travel to the US yet.

Also with his chin, it would be a good idea that he parts on good terms with Warren. He might need him again soon

i think it would be a mistake to leave Warren.. Warren knows Khans limitations and as soon as he leaves him he won't be as protected.

great for the fans but i think its a bad move for Khan.

is Prescot with Warren if not he soon will be

With Khan you have to be carefull, He is not improving as much as you think. The matching has to be spot on, His Head hasnt moved from where it was over His front foot . Struggles going back because of it. Warrens done a great Job.

i think warren had options on presscott as part of the khan deal, it seemed like warren was trying to freeze him out at first but then got mitchell to take him out of the picture
