Default What's next for Andre Berto?

So although I was irritated about the cancelation of the Mosley fight for my own selfish reasons I can see why it happened. I have two Haitian friends who were directly affected by the disaster. My friend Anie's mother was there when it happened. My friend Pierre's two cousins died in the quake. So all selfishness aside I understand.

I also think that Berto dodged a bullet. I know he was confident and would have come to fight but I think Mosley's veteran smarts would have caught up to the young champion. Berto hung on by a thread agains the best fighter he ever faced which was Luis Callazo(abeit, Callazo is a very good fighter)... But Callazo is no Mosley... Nor is Urango(slow as hell)... Stevie Forbes(a perenial sparring partner) or Rodriguez(a joke of a title challenger who cared more about his hair than anything)...

Berto has the tools but he's not mastered them yet... Natural tallent will only take you so far...

    Who's next?

    Quintana?

    Judah?

I'd love to see him in there with either... Both are good fighters.

    Thaoughts...

At this point, hopefully a Collazo rematch.

Depending on when he fights next, I would assume his opponent would be either Collazo, Mosley (if he loses to PBF and doesn't retire), or Clottey if he looks decent in losing to Pacquiao.

There are rumors that his people are negotiating with paulie malignaggi. Hopefully that is not true, because that is not I fight that I care to see.

For some reason it seems like everyone wants to fight Paulie. You would have thought Paulie is another Oscar with everyone from Khan, Pac, PBF, and everyone else that has been rumored.

It is interesting. My assumption is that Malignaggi is seen as a relatively high-profile opponents who is also relatively low-risk. If he beats you, it's likely to be a bit of a controversial decision and there's is very little danger of him knocking anyone out. He's been beaten every time he has stepped in the ring against an elite-level opponent and while he is inconsistent, even at his very best he is likely to fall short against top-tier fighters. He talks. A lot. Which means that he is good at selling a fight and he seems to have a decent following in New York, a very important city in terms of the fight game.

    That's just my $0.02
