Default Yuri Foreman is what being a champion is all about!!

Good win for Cotto too bad it was under the circumstances it happened even though he was on his way to victory anyhow but....

Foreman would not quit, he even after losing his legs went into a style standing toe to toe that was not his style and a place he was uncomfortable but he still did what he had to and tried....

He did not cry and complain one time about the knee...he did not try to over exaggerate it...If anything he was doing his best to downplay the injury...he went out on his shield like a CHAMPION SHOULD!!!!!!

Even in the post fight interview he stated "I am a champion well former champion now but I needed to fight like a champion and not quit no matter what"

How can you not like this guy? How could you not want to see him back in the ring ASAP healthy....

He never once said anything about I would have done better if it was not for my knee...Never said anything about Cotto only winning because he could not fight his fight...NOTHING negetive......I am a big Fan of Yuri Foreman after last night.....He will be back and IMO he will be champion again...

Agreed. I'm a fan of Yuri's after last night also. He went out like a true champion. Last night's showing is what boxing needs out of EVERY big fight. This is what will bring out new boxing fans.

Yuri is a fighter that everyone should admire, not only did he not quit he's just a solid well rounded guy outside the ring. He's not going to be one of those tragic stories in boxing

I picked him to 'upset' Cotto and thought he was doing better than given credit for but it was not to be.Equally I dont lessen victory by Cotto...he exploited a weakness and capitalized. In a way Yuri may have garnered more respect in defeat than if he had won.He entered with nagging condition and for his complete boxer style that in and off itself is ballsy.Absolutely agree Daxx...ironically I think he was looked at the 'weakest' Champion and took alot of flack for style and little power but you can take the belt off the champion but never the champion out of the man and Foreman is all of that. Not a weak thing about him or fighters of that ilk.Hope he can recover leg but not sure, tough road ahead for him.

Once poor dudes knee went, the fight was done. I don't really think he was doin all that great before that but he was holding his own. Victor ortiz, nate cambell, frietas, guerrero and some others should feel like crap watching this kid trying to grind it out.

I agree he come across very well. It is worth mentioning however that most fighters are good sports on the night and usually wait until after the post fight interviews to make their excuses. It may well have been what cost him the fight in his mind before his next bout

While the circumstances leading up to the stoppage were unfortunate, I was really impressed with the professionalism of both men. I couldn't believe he kept on after it was clear he was a sitting duck in there - that was one of the biggest displays of testicular fortitude I've seen in awhile.

I think even cotto admired foreman's determination and heart and went easy on him the last round or two after foreman's knee was injured. To see will and determination like that is kind of unbelievable and if foreman had pop on his punches I'd say he'd definitely be back and be champion again, this way I'm still going to go ahead and say he'll be champ some day again, he can do better than he did last night, the first 3 rounds he was extremely nervous I think. Respect to the guy for not having any quit in him whatsoever.

Yeah big respect to Foreman, I felt as though he started to find his feet in the 3rd (excuse the pun) and looked a lot more comfortable.

It was such a shame his knee went. He's a smart guy and must've been aware that he didn't have a punchers chance after that so it makes it all the more impressive he tried to continue.

What was everyone's take on Mercante? I understand where he was coming from but he was pissing me off with the whole 'suck it up kid' pep talk. Foreman had enough to deal with without him in his ear, apparently Foreman's wife was mega pissed at Mercante for not stopping the fight...

Wasn't so much a suck it up kid and stop your whining type thing Mercante did....Foreman did not want to stop the fight....He was in no real danger as far as being pummled to the head where it would cost lasting effects.....Mercante let it go to the decision of Foreman...I know at times a fighter needs to be protected from himself but Foreman did not want to go out like that and Mercante gave him the opp to choose his own path....

I do disagree with the fact he let it go on after the corner threw it in but again it is not like Foreman was being beaten from p[illar to post
