Default The Return Of The Hitman - Good or Bad ?

Over the weekend i heard a strong rumour that Ricky Hatton is planning a comeback for next year, he is looking at a fight with Amir Khan. He has re-applied to the board for his boxing licence, which indicates he does plan on carring on fighting. Things in the Hatton camp are apparently far from good in regards to the relationship with his management team.

So should he make a comeback or not, and if so where does he go with his career ?

I have a good feeling what most will say on here, but what the heck lets hear it anyway

I can't see Khan wanting to move up to heavyweight at this stage of his career.

You'd get good odds on Hatton beating Khan now.

Ricky hasn't been fit for 14 months and counting, Khan has improved massively in that time.

I'd bigtime back Khan to KO him inside three rounds. Biggest bet on rd 1.

It all depends on how much you enjoy watching really funny knockouts. If turnbuckle headbutts are your cup of tea, you're sorted.

    Khan will murder him.

I think if he has a "Farewell Fight" that would give him a shot at thanking his fans for their support and maybe give him a shot to patch things up with his former trainer. I think Khan is a bad idea, Witter or someone like that is better.

He will never come back, he only re applied for his licence to keep his name/company in the spotlight and people talking.

that makes sense but i think he prob is missing the glory days and its like a drug you can't do without.

i mean can you imagine having such a massive fan base chanting your name in an arena before battle and mixing with the "A" listers one minute.

and the next minute looking like shit and playing dominos in your local pissed out of your mind.

i wouldn't mind him coming back and Khan would be the perfect choice IMHO.

he'd get back in shape it would keep him off the drink and he'll make some great money... i would if i was him NO QUESTION

the main problem i see is if he beats the overrated Khan and it gives him a false sense of security to go out and fight another legit fighter... I would not want to see him get hurt but yeah Ricky come back against Khan and if he can get back into shape i think he wins with no problems.

You know that if he were to beat Khan a Mayweather rematch would almost be a certainty. Highly unlikely all the way around, but I'd really hate to see that.

Why don't you just ask Hatton right now? He thinks a Mayweather rematch could happen before the end of the year. I feel bad for him. Hatton was at the pearly gates of historical boxing matches, but the scales of justice won't let him in anymore. He will not come back at JWW, even if he can shed most of that weight. And I would hate to try adn pick a powderpuff opponent for him right now. Anyone know if Jesus "El Matador" Chavez is taking free knockouts still?

I was also under the impression he would never step back into the ring in anger.

What was said by Dean Powell was that he is wanting to fight again early next year, and Khan is the man he wants.

It would take a monumental effort to get back in shape and get that hunger back, but if applying for his licence is to fight again, then clearly that hunger is there.

I was always of the thought that Hatton would murder Khan, but if Ricky's not in shape and is the Ricky that fought the likes of Lazcano, then it would prove alot harder than i originally thought.

Supposing he comes back I think both physically and financially it makes sense to have a tune up contest before challenging anyone particularly dangerous.

Regardless of public opinion I think an extremely large crowd would still show up to watch Ricky- for the occasion alone.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that "Ricky Hatton vs. Steve Forbes" matchup.

I'm not sure he's going to come back now. If I was him I think I'd be tempted to have one last farewell fight against an OK fighter in Manchester MEN arena. Don't know how he's going to shift 3 stones of lard though and not sure he now has the motivation.
Fighting Amir Khan now would be a bad move. A couple of years ago I'd have taken Hatton over Khan - now I think Amir would be a strong favourite.
I don't mind if Ricky retires now - I'd enjoy watching him fight again but I'd hate to see him getting KO'd by fighters he'd have destroyed before.

There does seem to be a bit of self-delusion going on with Hatton these days though. I saw him say in an interview on TV a while ago that he was winning the 2nd round against Pacman before he got sparked. He mustn't have watched the tape back (and I don't blame him!)
