Starts off in a really crappy way, with ESPN totally going overboard on Boise St. putting them in the national title conversation. Tell them to get the competition to fuckn prove it. That is all.

Well there's really no way to explain it to you without really trying to teach you which would take forever.
Just like in soccer where you can have different numbers of Strikers or Midfielders in Football you can have different numbers of Running Backs and Wide Receivers/Tight Ends. And using different formations you can utilize different strategies on offense. I will give you the 2 offenses that are farthest apart in terms of what their strategies are.
Flexbone - Triple Option:Flexbone is the FORMATION, the Triple Option is the strategy most used with this formation
-------------E-T-G-C-G-T-E----------
-----------W-------Q--------W-------
----------------------------------------
---------------------B-------------------
Here's a key for the letters:
E = Tight End
T = Tackle
G = Guard
C = Center
Q = Quarterback
W = Wingback/Running Back
B = Running Back/Fullback
So this offense has 3 running backs (the most you can have when using a quarterback...and not all offenses use the quarterback) and the strategy is run the ball, use the clock, and wear out the defense. I guess you could compare it to a Possesion/Counter Attack team in Soccer.
The best example of this today is Georgia Tech
Shotgun - Spread: Shotgun is the formation and the spread is the strategy.
------W---------T-G-C-G-T----------Z
---------X---Y--------------------------
-----------------------Q--B-------------
Key:
W, X, Y, Z = Wide Receivers
T = Tackle
G = Guard
C = Center
Q = Quarterback
B = Running Back
This offense can use up to 5 Wide Receivers and they can be positioned basically anywhere. The strategy of this offense is to throw the ball down field....I guess similar to a Long Ball style strategy in soccer.
The best example is Texas
Nah...its difficult to understand when you haven't grown up around it.
Good job picking up the slack, I can't believe I forgot to make this thread this year.
and yes my whole football life is now devoted to hating Boise. I would have fucking slapped the shit out of Brent Musburger if he had seen him Monday night, how many times did he talk about Boise's "courage?" Holy fuck, what a homo.
Its so sad that beating Va Tech is now made out to be such a big thing. Really? They're not elite, they're almost always on the cusp of being elite but they're not elite. We beat Virginia Tech last year. It was basically just another game for us. Who the fuck cares?
If Boise makes it in over a one loss SEC team the system is broken and there's no use even being a part of the NCAA anymore. They have chances to play people, they had a deal with Nebraska where they played twice at Nebraska and once at Boise but no, that's not good enough. They have to be respected. Florida State built their program by playing anyone anywhere, if Boise's not willing to then fuck them, they're irrelevant. But they're not irrelevant because ESPN is bound and determined to get them in the BCS game this year.
I actually think they have a pretty good team but fuck em, they don't deserve all this fawning.

LMAO thank you and HOLY SHIT what a picture. Boise is fuckn ridiculous, RIDICULOUS. I didn't even know about the Nebraska thing. I just know that they play Va Tech and Oregon St. this year. And they are ranked 3? I fucken hate to see what happens if Alabama and OSU loses. If they get in a national title game ever without playing a halfway decent schedule then you are right it is broken. Fuck, go independent and play Notre Dame's schedule. The mountain west would have been decent for the next few years had Utah and BYU not left. But that's probably exactly what Boise wanted. Fuck those guys.
You guys have NO CLUE what it's like to start the season UNABLE to win the National Championship just because you're not in a BCS conference!
I love college football....I HATE the BCS!
ECU had that 2008 season where we beat VaTech and WVU to start the season (we ended up losing the Liberty Bowl) but we NEVER even if we won out and went undefeated, we could NEVER break into the BCS just because we're in C-USA....because the ACC won't let us in, the SEC won't let us in, and the Big East is about to be demolished.
I liked Boise State before they got all the press (because the field is named after me) Go BSU!!!
In parting ...FUCK: THE Ohio State, VaTech, NC State, the USC Trojans and the Gamecocks, and Michigan.....I hate the Big Ten, I hate the Pac-10...everyone else not named is ok
