    Default David Haye - Mormeck

Just like Skel's thread really, although it's to claim the opposite. I actually spotted this and mentioned it when the fight happened a few years ago.

Ok here's my claims: When Haye's legs went in the 4th and he went down, i proposed at the time that actually what happened was he stood on the advertising hoardings and slipped, and i've always believed that to be the case.

Now i've found this clip. Watch it in real time and it looks like a legitimate punch.

But then watch again.... (you'll have to keep pausing it at different times as it's quite difficult to get the still image of the shot missing Haye, and it's difficult to get the image of Haye stepping on the advertising board).

Pause it at 1:28 and 1:29 and you'll see that the big punch actually misses Haye by a whisker. You'' also notice him stand on the advertising board which is on the ring apron. You'll also notice how clear his eyes are when he receives his count.

After the fight Haye gave an interview where he said his legs just went, thinking he'd been tagged. For me this definitely explains it. I actually think he decided to go down because he felt his legs go, and Mormeck jumped on him. I think he went down to almost as a precaution.

Watch the video, and slow it down, and you'll see what i mean.....

It looked like a knockdown, that's the first time I've ever studied that one in more detail. Remember it live and have always thought his legs went from the punch.

Now I think it was a slip on the matt, bit still a knock down as he chose to drop down.

Maybe Haye is not chinny after all.

That's what temple shots do, to be fair.

You telling me that Nigel Benn could have done that to Mike Tyson!!

Regardless, Mock was the much smaller man naturally. Super middle is 28 pounds lower than Cruiser and that is Mocks natural weight

Haye has been dropped or hurt alot of times and he hasnt really faced any big punchers yet. Neither Valuev, Ruiz, Barrett or Bonin are regarded as big punchers. Mock put him down, Thompson put him down, Mormeck put him down, Barrett put him down.

Im pretty sure that for all Harrisons misgivings that he can be regarded as a bigger puncher than all the above.

I still think he has sparked out written all over his chin still. That's why I still think Audley has a chance by KO.

I agree James, I think hid chin will fail him sooner rather than later. Audley I can't see it the guy is scared of his own shadow.

Mate he's training in the mountains while Haye mooches about in London. The mountains! Got a beard and everything

He's getting in the zone. To land that one bomb needed.

Hahahahaha. The mountains?? He'll need a mountain to hide behind when he is sparked within 3!

    That I can guarantee.

Looked legit from this angle though his back was turned. at time of clipping his lead left had yet to plant really. He had that 'rattled' look...legs straight after and jittery. Bigger thing may be that regardless...he was repeatedly open for right. Tiger cant change his stripes.

I do tend to think he is chinny and that's bad news for when he fights Wlad or Vitali. But i do also think even he doesn't know that he wasn't hurt from Mormeck's air shot.

I never realised this was a point of contention. Definitely a slip... those stupid adverts!
How many times has a fighter slipped in the middle of the ring on those big ol adverts only to have more adverts round the fucking edge too!!

But seriously, Haye slipped, got tagged in a real situation and just took a simple knee.

He may or may not of immediately recalled exactly what had happened but its of no consequence

Has anyone ever missed with an overhand right against Haye?

Legit knockdown in the legal sense, sure he slipped, but no protest from him, so................
