Why was Lucien Bute not included in the Super Six?

It just would strike me as odd that Showtime would just say naah. There had to be something going on you would think.

Did he sign a deal with HBO before or after this started?

I didn't realize he had now signed a deal with Showtime. That's good at least as theoretically that opens the door for future fights with Super Six guys.

I think he had already signed to fight Andrade 2, shame really but hopefully he fights the winner.

It's good that he gave Andrade the rematch, but at the same time, it really limited his opponents.

I think it had more to do with HBO wanting him to fight Pavlik later that year. They were pushing hard for the fight until Kelly fell apart personally and then professionally. Bute would have made some good bank for the fight.

I also don't think Interbox (his promoter) was crazy about tying him up for 2+ years fighting outside of Canada.
