James Kirkland possibly on the Maidana/Morales Undercard

Kirkland's will not have fought for two year but will have two fights 35 days apart.

Undefeated junior middleweight prospect James Kirkland (25-0) told BoxingScene.com that he can't wait to get back in the ring in his first televised fight on the Marcos Maidana-Erik Morales undercard on April 9th. Kirkland has to come out of his tune up on March 5th unscathed in order to solidify his spot on the Maidana-Morales card. His opponent for March 5th hasn't been named yet.
One of the names being mentioned as a possible opponent for Kirkland in April is Harry Joe Yorgey. Yorgey hasn't fought since being blown out in three rounds versus Alfredo Angulo in November of 2009. Yorgey has a tune up on February 25th and must win that fight in order to stay in the running for the Kirkland fight.

I'd bet money that he pulls out. Give himself a bit more time to get back into prime shape.

James Kirkland was on the right road. I hope he gets back on track. His opponent will have to be hand pick. He been gone way to long to get in with a top contender at this point. But his willingness to take one to give one will always be exciting.

In opening action, a scheduled eight round super middleweight bout, James Kirkland made a victorious return to the ring and wasted no time in unleashing a barrage of punches that sent the overmatched Ashandi Gibbs to the canvas for the 10 count At 0:34 of round one, the referee counted out Gibbs. With the victory, Kirkland improves to 26-0, 23 KOs while Gibbs falls to 10-3, 4 KOs).
