Default Biggest Exaggerations/Claims in Boxing History

I think the claim that Black Muslims loosened the ropes in Zaire and also that GF was poisoned before the fight are both TALL TALES. Those ropes DID seem pretty damn loose though....

Also the claim that Jack Johnson was shielding his eyes from the sun......that punch looked pretty damn hard to me, and why would he wait 15 rounds before taking the dive?

And how about that claim that Jersey Joe Walcott stopped the Ali/Liston rematch deliberately/i.e. was paid off, when Liston had already gotten up and was trying to recover/survive the round?

Ricky Hatton was a good fighter.

John Ruiz was a HW champion.

Mike Tyson was invincible with Kevin Rooney as trainer.

That alphabet strapholders are champions in any meaningful sense.

That Marciano only fought stiffs/old men.

That Joe Louis' Bum of the Month Club were, well, bums.

LOL! Nah, Roland LaStarza was a heck of a fighter, Rex Layne wasn't too bad and as Nat Fleisher opined the night of the first Ezzard-Marciano fight "Only Marciano beats Charles that night."
