    Age is just a number!

If you have heavy hands (the kind that could destroy a watermelon) you wouldn't even really have to get into good shape. Just get in good enough shape to go one or two rounds and everything should be fine.

Normally I'd be thinking 'why couldn't this have been posted in ask the trainer'

But I''m happy to leave it otherwise...

Honestly? No chance... not unless by competitive you mean 'fighting other untrained 47 year old novices'

Nothing saying that you can't get fitter and look better and learn a bit of boxing whilst doing so... and that is an achievement in itself.

Good luck at boxing, I wanted to do it and for the same reason I did not continue to box, did not want to break my long nose, plus parents would not have been happy. Life has not turned out bad but wished I did try boxing as an amateur. Try white collar boxing first and take it from there.
