Default Am I the only one who actually thought it was a close fight?

All I'm reading is that it was a one sided beat down, but I had trouble scoring many rounds because there was so little in it.

Haye lands an over hand right, Klitschko lands 3 jabs. X 12. That was all I saw?

I certainly didn't see a masterclass or a 12 round one sided fight. I was very impressed by Wlad's speed and footwork, quickest I've ever seen him.

I was very unimpressed with Hayes running and falling over. So I'm trying to be neutral. But are my glasses that rose tinted? I genuinely tried to watch the fight as neutrally as possible, but despite my best efforts, it seems like I watched a different fight to 99% of all news reports and posts on here.

You guys taught me that stats mean shit, 100 jabs and poor shots don't really count as this is pro boxing, not the amateurs. Haye landed eye catching shots and gave Wlad more difficulty than he has had for years. Despite the fact Haye is a dick and a for running, falling over and bigging up a KO and then doing the opposite.

You can't call the guy a pussy though, fuck doing 12 rounds with Wlad. Would you?? No doubt a about it, the guy is the ultimate boxing athlete, right now, no fighter in the world from any country or weight can beat. His size, power, even speed is too much.

But was it really a 12 round loss? I had it at 2 or 3 at best.

10-2 in favor of Wladimir. Haye just fought too negative a fight to win rounds.

I see the reference to fighters fighting too negatively, often on this forum.
    Dirrel, Haye, Mayweather(?)

Is there actually any official boxing rule or guide that states that a fighter should not move and/or dodge punches too much? And how much is "too much"?

Is it really not just a subjective personal opinion thing?
I personally find it odd that defensive movement in a fight would be so frowned upon.

The guide to scoring a fight is: Ring Generalship, Defense, and Effective Aggression with an emphasis on clean punches landed.

Guys like Willie Pep, Pernell Whittaker, Floyd Mayweather Jr. were guys that would make punches miss, but unlike Haye they would land in return, they would make a fighter pay the price for missing. Haye didn't do shit, look at his Compubox numbers!

Ring generalship, thats the key point. That's what won the fight.

Thing is he's going to get a bunch of people to believe him again, he's going to call wlad scarred and shit and people will start believing that too...and wlad will finally give in again just to prove a point again. Haye will fight the same way, pocket another few mill and laugh all the way to the bank, con man and sore ass loser...I wonder what his excuse would be if he got kod, oh I wasn't actually koed, dude is so delusional but such a fuckin salesman he's always going to be able to dupe some "general" sports fans

I thought it was close. I had Haye winning rounds 2,3 and 4. I crumpled up my score card after a while, but it was a close fight.

Although I thought Valuev beat Chagaev. This reminded me of that fight.

Well apparently Vitali still wants a piece...if I was Vitali I'd just leave Haye to wallow in humiliation rather than give him another chance.

All Haye and Booth know how to do is talk shit.

i saw the big buy control the little guy and do what he had to do but yeah maybe the scores were a little harsh certainly the 1118 one.

the little guy will regret not going for it more - its what he had to do. He may get a second chance who knows

I had it 9 rounds for Wlad with 2 for Haye and 1 even - and I think I'm being pretty kind giving Haye 2 rounds.

Wlad controlled it from beginning to end as far as I am concerned.

I don't know how anyone could have seen it any different to be honest.

9-3 and I was straining to give 13 rounds.

It could have been a shutout.

Probably. I think giving Haye anymore that 2 rounds is being generous. I certainly don't have a clue how George Foreman managed to have it level halfway through. He lost nearly every round but he didn't take a one sided beating. Wlad was just too good, that jab was too difficult to get past and Haye really couldn't get into position to land many punches because Wlad's so quick moving backwards.

A lot of the big right hands that got the Sky commentators excited didn't land either. Quite a few seemed to brush Wlad or miss completely. He landed some nice shots but not enough to take many rounds when he was being significantly out-landed like that.

I don't think for a second Haye deserved to win, you can't box that negative and expect to nick a decision, especially to win the title. The real title.

I had it more or less even half way, I think Haye took 2 of the first 3.

But there only ever looked likely to be one winner, Wlad had the centre of the ring and was the agrresor which always decides the close rounds.

It was nice to see Wlad having to really think about to do though, he clearly trained well for the fight and had a game plan.

What was Hayes big master plan then? The tactic they would never guess that both he and Booth were bragging about? "they'll never see this coming"

Was it the Klinsman tactic? That was the only new thing I saw. Haye hitting the deck at random in each round and then Karma gave him an 8 count. We all saw it coming, even if it wasn't a real knockdown, even Haye knew he had cried wolf too many times to have a chance of not being counted.

Despite it being over hyped and a relatively dull fight, I still enjoyed it.
