Default Gamboa vs. De Leon on the Vitali vs. Adamek undercard

    According to Fatboy Dan:

Yuriorkis Gamboa to fight Daniel Ponce De Leon in Atlantic City in September - ESPN
    Sept 10th
HBO will televise Gamboa-Ponce De Leon at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on, "World Championship Boxing" along with the primetime replay of heavyweight titlist Vitali Klitschko's defense against Tomasz Adamek, which will air live from Poland in the afternoon.

Both De Leon and Adamek will likely get annihilated, but Sept 10th should be an entertaining afternoon & evening of boxing.

I've been cringing ever since I first saw a story that had Gamboa and Ponce getting together.

It's a completely legit fight. The #1 feather fighting the #5 feather and that makes it something we should see more of in the sport.

But geeze isn't this one of the great style/talent mismatches possible among ranked fighters today? Ponce is tough and durable and if he could ever catch Gamboa he could hurt him...but how likely is THAT? Gamboa is lightning fast and Pnce is sludge slow. Gamboa is gymnast agile, Ponce is Butterbean agile.

This is going to make Khan-Zab look like the Thrilla!

De Leon is going to get knocked out early. If he can land clean on Gamboa it might get interesting, but he won't land a single power-punch so it won't matter.

The version of De Leon that ruined Boom Boom Bautista would have thrilled me. However, I feel that De Leon is half shot himself, as CFH said, would he connect on Gamboa it would get interesting but I highly doubt that the cuban sensation will allow that to happen.

I think this will be a repeat of Yuriorkis Gamboa vs Rogers Mtagwa.

I can't recall who it was that flattened Ponce a few years back, but that's what I expect to happen in the Gamboa-De Leon fight, like you said, Ponce is like VW Beetle and Gamboa is like Ferrari.

These guys are blazing past each other in different directions. Punchers chance for Deleon, that's about it. I thought he looked good boxing in his last fight and judges were way to wide. He might get lucky, I really don't think Gamboa is the toe tapping master dancer on his feet he is made out to be but his hands are going to leave Ponce seeing trails.

Thanks, I couldn't recall, Ponce is a good fighter, but he's out of his league against Gamboa, but then who isn't.

Ponce has a puncher's chance and Gamboa does play a little fast and loose at times and has gotten caught before and that's a dangerous game to play with Ponce. I think Gamboa is way too quick for him though.
