So what's your fav song? You can only list 1 and 1 only...
Here's mine:
Impossible!
I change my favourite weekly, sometimes daily.
If I had to pick just one it would have to be In My Life, unless the side 2 Medly from Abbey Road counts as one song...
I'm posting this from the shitter, ain't technology grand?
One!
I went from my first thought of Revolution to Helter skelter to Here comes the sun to the Benifit of MR Kite to Strawberry fields to settle on this,
Me too. This is a seriously great lyric:
"But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more"
For a young guy and for Lennon (at this stage not known for his intimacy) that's really deep. Basically saying that for everybody that has been before and everybody that comes after, I will never love anybody like I love you.
God is a concept, By which we can measure, Our pain, I'll say it again, God is a concept, By which we can measure, Our pain, I don't believe in magic, I don't believe in I-ching, I don't believe in bible, I don't believe in tarot, I don't believe in Hitler, I don't believe in Jesus, I don't believe in Kennedy, I don't believe in Buddha, I don't believe in mantra, I don't believe in Gita, I don't believe in yoga, I don't believe in kings, I don't believe in Elvis, I don't believe in Zimmerman, I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me!!
THe disconnect between Lennon the lyricist and Lennon the individual is remarkable. He could be a douchebag of epic proportions, but he wrote some of the most sentimental, thoughtful, and introspective songs.
If you're interested in him, I suggest you read the book John Lennon, the Life.
Love me do. Perfect because it only took something silly like 40 minutes to record. Such a simple track but just so catchy, I also love that almost delta feel to it.
1. Bollocks! You silly wankas I said post one...
2. It was just a coincedence that it was Johns b-day. Seriously I woke up listening to the Beatles and just decided to post the song.
3. Fuck off!
4. I'm jacking off as I post this... ain't technology grand!
5. How tragic was Stuart Sutcliffe life?
The Beatles were great fun, from their early days = Twist & Shout:
Difficult thread and like others it will depend on my temperament and environment. Maybe today a bit of Strawberry fields forever
