On weekdays I am a very well behaved boy. I settle down with a book at 8pm and typically go to bed before 10:30pm in preparation for my early starts.

I did the same thing last night and as far as I can gather I was out for the count by 10:40. However, this is where my 'retarded people' story really begins. I was far away in the land of nod, but into my head came this weird beeping sound. I tried to ignore it and settle back into my sleep but it repeated. It was my bloody phone and someone had sent me a text.

Sleepily I read it and it read as follows: "My name is ....... and I'm in the Monday 9am class. I want to check my mid term score. I went to your office today at 2pm, but you were not present".

Now this person is retarded for a number of reasons:
1) She does not seem to realize how to check her score online despite us drawing into the final quarter of the year.

2) This person went to my office on a Wednesday despite me telling them every week that I am only in my office on Mondays and Tuesdays.

3) This person waited until 11:30pm to send me a fucking message asking to know her fucking test result! Who sends their Prof. a text message at nearly fucking midnight?! Why not wait until the sodding morning!

Anyway, I tried to get back to sleep and I couldn't sleep. It took me until 2am before I finally dropped off again.

Aaargghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

So today's topic is a request for you to share your stories about retarded people.

Oh, and in a related story about retarded people, my coworker had a student in tears today because she failed her assignment due to plagiarism. And yet the student refused to admit that plagiarism was a problem as my coworker had apparently failed to instruct them that plagiarism wasn't acceptable. The tears were more about failing than any acceptance of wrong doing. That student is quite clearly going to have to be tarred with my retard brush too. Who in their right mind thinks it's okay to just cut and paste from Wikipedia and use that as the basis for an assignment? Total nutter.

I always tell my kids not to use Wikipedia as the teachers know this trick and to always go to anywhere after page 5 on google search for copy and paste stuff as teachers are far to lazy to check anything after page 1 ... and to also do alittle rewrite and make sure its totally different from anything on Wikipedia.

Saddo, just tell them not to cheat!

Second language learners can be stupid as one minute they can barely string a sentence together and then the next week you find that they are suddenly able to correctly use punctuation and string together meaningful paragraphs. It's easy to catch the cheats in this line of work. As Morrissey once sang in 'Cemetery Gates' there is always someone somewhere with a big nose who knows and so one must tread carefully when taking words out on loan.
