Default Wladimir Klitschko-Tony Thompson II July 7th

Well fellas this is the rematch of what I thought was a pretty solid fight. Thompson gave a great account of himself and really was the last guy to touch Wlad up a bit. I don't think Tony has gotten any better, stronger, or faster, but his defense is always good, he's got a solid chin, he's got a good long jab, but will he fair any better than last time?

What does it mean if this time it lasts the distance? What if Wlad stops him earlier? Is there anyone out there that can truly challenge a Klitschko brother right now (especially Wlad)

Thompson is really getting up there in years, but he had more success than most in recent memory against Wlad, why not.

Unless Wlad loses, there is not much to take from it other than what we've known already.
That is: There is no meaningful competition at heavyweight.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

There's no meaningful competition for WLADIMIR at heavyweight. There are very solid fights left to be made at heavyweight it's just a matter of consistency and timing. If a Prime Cris Arreola & a Ready Seth Mitchell were to meet that would be a great fight to watch

It's not a fight that interests me because the conclusion is foregone. I'll watch it to watch Wlad, like I'll watch Floyd versus to Cotto, foregone conclusion as far as the fight is concerned, but Floyd (and perhaps Cotto) are future hall of famers, so it's always fun.

The problem is I can't really imagine who I would prefer to see Wlad face that will actually fight him (Povetkin would be a natural choice, but he won't fight). The Pulev-Dimitrenko winner would be worth a fight, as would Boystov, Chisora, or Arreola.

Recycling the old challengers. I hear Solis who couldnt last 3 minutes with Vitali wants a rematch too. Next we'll hear Mormeck has got another crack and that will be the final nail in the coffin of heavyweight boxing.

As much of an underdog as Cotto is against Floyd at this stage, I really think Thompson is A LOT more of an underdog. He's basically a no hoper. He's a tough solid enough guy but all he does really is jab jab jab. He lost once already, I figure he'll lose earlier and more emphatically this time. Pointless matchup, but still a step up from Mormeck who should be ashamed of himself.

While there are not many credible challenges out there for wlad id at least like to see him fight someone else, even if the outcomes the same...give arreola a shot, hell ill take him fightin furry....

Wladimir will fight Arreola in the US after Thompson. At least that's the plan anyway.
