Default Are you for or against the monarchy?

The Jubilee thread made me want to start a thread with a poll seeing who is for or against the monarchy. I am curious because online most people seem to be apathetic or against the Royal family and yet the media is telling us how great they are. I'm not seeing that at all and thus a Saddo poll as our viewpoints ideally shape the world.

So get your votes in. Are you for or against the monarchy. A simple yes or no.

Yes in regards to Australia, only because the cost of dismantling it all changing all the law papers judges regalia army navy etc etc and putting someone else in the royal position who didnt know what they are doing, could be even more costly to us than keeping her as head.

In paying for all that in a one time move you are a footstep closer to freedom and a more just system. I want them out. I regard the Queen as a war criminal.

She should have been guillotined this weekend and the masses could have cheered as her head fell into the basket.

I'm only joking in that last post. I would like her tried in a court of law like anybody else.

You should be tried in a court of Law for treason you traitorous Francophile. What is it with you and polls, do you work for IPSOS Mori or something? How can the Jubilee have bothered you so much when you are not even in the country? You sound like Scrooge at Christmas but just to satisfy your facist take on democracy perhaps you may be interested that Mori conducted a Poll just last month in which 80% of British Citizens voted in favour of the Monarchy. The same people would also probably vote in favour of incarcerating treacherous lanky racists in the tower, so watch yourself when you come back on holiday.

If you could fill me in on the special knowledge and insight that the queen has into Australian military affairs I'd be most grateful? Surely you have somebody over there who can wander around in clothes that cost about as much as it would take to properly kit out an infantry unit. The main job requirement seems to be waving and asking questions to learn more about the normal people and what their lives are like.

I believe a male hermit would be out of touch enough to have to ask basic questions about life, and would probably have forearms strong enough to wave for extended periods of time due to frequent masturbation.

True but shes our head of state and costs us fuck all and doesnt stick her nose in as a live in one would.

Plus if we get attacked by Indonesia, we want your asses over here fighting for us cause they outnumber us somewhat.

If I was British I would probably have a different view of it, but as an American I don't care for royalty. The Queen is no doubt a great woman and carries herself with dignity and grace and that is respectable, but she's the exception to the rule.

They have no real relevance or interest to me. The Queen has no real excutive power and is just a figure head. For as long as they continue to generate more money than they cost, then I am happy for them to stay.

What I woudl like to see is a Royal family of approx 10 people, not all the hundreds living in castles and having titles because 500 years ago their dog was related to James I's

    Those lot have gotta go

I don't buy into the argument that the Royal family brings in more money than it costs. The Queen doesn't meet tourists. People will enjoy the fantastic buildings with or without a monarchy in place.

I think the Queen does her job tremendously well, but once she passes I really believe it is time to dismantle the Royal family.

Even hardened Royalists will be cringing at the thought of King Charles.

I am neither heretic nor rebel, just a man that wants a system of reason.

You might be right, but is there evidence of this in other former Monarch countries? I think the fact the Royal Family are current and still frequent/live in certain buildings is a big part of the tourism. If it was just dwellings where Royals used to live them it would be no different to other countries with former Monarchies.

    Dunno

As an American what bothers me is when these empty suit talking head try to force Royalty on us, The Kennedy's for example. JFK's White House was referred to as Camelot....seriously fuck that shit! I think #1 its disrespectful to the way and manner this country was founded and #2 I don't know of many kings who got their money from Daddy's bootlegging business.

But for England royalty seems ok because that's how your country came to exist. Should it be phased out? Perhaps, but as someone on the outside I know its not my call to make.
