Is this amirs final swan song? Or is he talented enough and young enough to bounce back again?

Amir has speed and great boxing skill. If he would have gave prescott a rematch and beat him would that have gave amir a great confidence boost in a way that might have eliminated any talk of the glass jaw?
Would he have been a different fighter?
Can mr.hunter change amir and will he listen?

If he loses this one, I predict he's going to down the route of Audley Harrison talking about how we should jump on the "A-Train" now (when he's 41) because Amir is going to be the World champ again!

It's a must win fight for Amir. He won't do any better unless he takes some responsibility though.

I don't think he's lazy. His biggest problem seems to be, as you said at the end, his ridiculous inability to take responsibility for his mistakes.

He loses to Peterson and it was the entire state of Washington's fault. Oh don't forget he only won because of PED's too.

He loses to Garcia and now it's Freddie's fault.

He dumped the Cuban trainer and got Roach and looked good. However his defense has been suspect until it was found out against Garcia, so he moves again and tries ti improve that. I see no problem there. Oscar dumped many trainers to improve himself.

Personally, I think Prescott was going to knock him out regardless of whether Roach was his trainer or somebody else. He was a young, cocky undefeated fighter who thought he couldn't lose. It was all too easy to blame the Cuban trainer (I'm sorry I don't know his name, I don't mean to be disrespectful).

Thing I'm still unsure about is whether Amir WANTS to improve. From the way he talks, I think he believes he has everything he needs but just needs the attention of a full time trainer. I could be wrong - we'll see how it pans out.

Everyone will agree he has to stay away from punchers but you have to admire his cajones. He needs to stop looking for the magic bullet by running from trainer to trainer and start working on his defense. I'd like to see him do well but he has to face the reality of his poor defense that makes him vulnerable to a puncher.

Khan is young enough to make a go of his boxing career and after his last loss he achieved more than we all expected. I think Khan will come back better and stronger again and this trainer has only Ward as a high profile fighter so should accommodate Khan better and improve his defence.

I think Khan should stay at light welter but HBO want him to fight a big name.

Glad he kicked Roach to the curb. One way trainer. Khan never even learned to properly hold. I think he has the talent and punch to carry on so no swan song regardless imo. He lacks a real plan B and I have said that since he burst onto the scene. He does not seem able to deal with adversity and believes his talent alone wins the day. I think his issues are upstairs.

Roach being overated is another topic altogether and one that I totally agree with you on. I have been saying that for years.

Spicoli nailed it - Khan is always trying to be something he's not. He has the talent and attributes to fight like a top class boxer but wants to fight like Antonio Margarito without the chin. Never going to end well. The most disciplined I've seen him look was against Kotelnik when he won the world title.

Khan needs to fight in a disciplined manner where he uses his speed but not get reckless. He certainly makes fights exciting putting down Maidana with a body shot and cutting up Garcia for over 3 rounds, but had he taken his time he would have made easy work of these opponents. I think that is what he will do for this comeback.

Hes put himself in a situation that he is fighting for career preservation by not doing so in the first place really, though I'm not convinced his chin-psyche would have held 100% vs Garcia regardless. That compounded with the blue print being out on his beard, not utilizing earlier time to hone up that boxing and patience, and that he'll surely jump in with a better name to stay relevant sooner rather than later...they are going to jump him and he'll be forced to stand...I think he's in for a tough tough uphill climb.
