Diet is very important, but is something that I am only recently coming around to a lot more. When we are young we think we are kings, but just look at the people straddling the West. These people are gluttons and a breakfast of toast, non-sugary cereal, some nuts and a bit of fruit would do them wonders. You only get fat if what is going in is more than what is coming out and a breakfast fry up is only going to accumulate and stockpile. It tastes great, but how easy is it to walk into Gregg's and have a couple of sausage rolls for breakfast on the way to work? It is appalling really.

Once you start to take control of your food, you can then start to take control of your body. If that breakfast is fried, then for sure it isn't healthy and should only be for now and then. This whole subject is something that others would know more about than me, but I for one am starting to see the merits of a more organic diet.

Eating what we want is like rampant consumer capitalism. It isn't sustainable and the fallout will be appalling. You have to change the model because waistline expansion is not infinite.

I'm pretty spartan like about my diet, particularly breakfast, but on Saturday and Sunday morning you bet I'm frying up a couple eggs with bacon/sausage and toast.

If you ever get to Chino, CA, at the Chino Airport, there is a place called Flo's- last I heard it is still there. Going back 40, 50 years it was the place where all the dairymen went for breakfast. I recommend the porkchops and eggs breakfast; two pork chops, three eggs, a slab of hashbrowns, all covered with white gray. Just delicious. Probably at least as dangerous as a cobra to your overall long term health, but awfully good.

I love bacon or sausage and eggs for breakfast, I also might have hash-browns, oats, cream of wheat, a waffle or yogert along with it. I make sure to take a heavy duty multivitamin/multimineral supplement along with an aspirin every day.
What I don't think is good for you for breakfast is a bunch of shit filled with sugar, like pastry, donuts, or putting a lot of sugar in your coffee/tea.
Studies have shown that people who consume a lot of sugar, aren't as good at problem solving as those who eat bacon or sausage and eggs for breakfast, and/or more protein.

@brockton, keep an eye on your cholesterol and blood pressure as you get older, and if need be get some medication for it.
