Default Floyd Patterson vs. Tom Mcneeley 10 KNOCKDOWNS

"Hurricane" Peter McNeeley's Pop was one tough, TOUGH bastard.

Gets up from 10 knockdowns and even rocks Patterson pretty bad at one point.

I'd read that Peter's Dad fought Floyd Patterson, but just seein it on boxrec is a world of difference between actually seeing the superhuman effort he put forth. Absolute warrior ! And quite the headbutter....

I like at 9:03 or so in the vid after he stumbles into the ropes after eating a right hand, he plays possum and acts like he's stunned, then LAUNCHES himself off the ropes with a huge right hand that hurts Patterson. Very clever!

Peter Mcneeley... I can't get past him getting blown out of the water in 1 round by both Butterbean and k-1 kickboxer Mike Bernardo.

Good observation, I did not notice that detail. I did notice Tom launching himself into Patterson with his head.

I also noticed just what a horrible ref poor ol Jersey Joe Walcott was. The fight shoulda been stopped after about the 6th knockdown or so even if they were flash kd's.

Yeah I watched the Peter vs. Butterbean fight and he rocked butterbean with a left hook, but then laid against the ropes getn pummlled. Bastard was only 212 lbs for the fight and fresh outta rehab.

Floyd fought a lot of easy fights which did not help him, Cus said it was to protect him from the mob others say it was because of Floyds chin.

He was knocked down about 20 times over his career. This gem by @Hulk makes me think of Baer/Carnera. Max was a bad man.

The difference between then and now.

He'd have been lucky if the ref let him carry on after the second or third knockdown let alone ten.

When he was clearly able to continue after the third.

P.s. Pete McNeeley buckled anytime he met a decent puncher. All of his 7 losses were KOs and 5 of them before the end of the 3rd round.

looks like he shared the ring with 2 world champs that night

I never realized that jersey joe walcott had been a ref before the Ali Liston fight for some strange reason I always thought the phantom punch fight was the only one he done.... not sure if i read that somewhere or because of the his ineptness in that fight just led me to think that.

turns out he had reffed quite a few before and then didn't ref another one after that till the 1978 (13 years after the liston fiasco)

Dude, now that you mention it, I thought the exact same thing.

Like they hired him for that fight as a novelty or something lol.

How do you think Jersey Joe Walcott would have done against Sonny Liston?

Similar irratic flailing his arms like a daddy long legs style to his son. Tough as old boots in cement though but crazy as a chicken horse
