Default Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse VS Adrian "The Problem" Broner

A very likely chain of events could put together a super fight in the 140lb division. It could go something like this:

--Broner fights and beats Malignaggi in a hard fought fight in which he wins by knockout

--Matthysse goes in and obliterates the 140lb kingpin Danny Garcia in 7 rounds.

--These two meet in a clash at 140lbs on the May 2014 Mayweather card!

In reality I think that if these two were to meet it would be at 147lbs as Broner will more than likely control the negotiations and will look for the advantage. But assuming that it happens at 140lbs, how do you think this fight goes?

Broner would have 2 to 3 times the faster hands than Matthysse but Lucas has great timing and underrated abilities even after last nights destruction of Petersen. In terms of power I think they are probably around the same with Lucas having more concussive power and Broner having power generated from speed.

Broner is the more athletically gifted of the two however Matthysse carries alot of experiance and has been in with more top level competition at this point:

    -Judah
    -Alexander
    -Petersen
    -Humberto Soto
    -Ajose Olusegun

I cannot pick a winner at 140lbs but at 147lbs I can see Broner being able to hurt Lucas being naturally bigger.

    Who do you got?
    The key is Self-discipline.

I think Broner outpoints him. He could possibly stop him but I think Broner wins the early rounds, gets caught in the middle and loses a few rounds before regaining composure and out boxing him for the last few rounds to win 116-112

That somewhat makes sense, however we've never seen Broner move around the rind to avoid punches. To oupoint Lucas he would have to move around thew ring, the wide stance that Broner uses doesnt lend itself to moving around to avoid bombs.

Yea fair point, uses head movement to slip punches. Would be a cracking fight but I don't see it happening anytime soon

If a guy has te highest KO % in boxing, then what would actually stop him from continuing that Broner gets caught late, Mattyshe Winner by KO. And I like Broner, I just think Lucas is a Tyson-like fighter.

How's Maidanna been doing recently? Would like to see him around again throwing bombs with some of these.

I like Matthysse. I'll go with the accomplishment over yet to be fully realized promise and potential. Broner is really an inside-ish type fighter and he gets hit. Matthysse has dealt with fast hands and speed pretty well before and has only gotten better.

Let Broner steamroll Paulie and decide if hes going back to 135 as has been mentioned and Matthysse pull Garcias Fruit of the Looms up over his head first. If everything goes well, we'll see. This division is intense and its only getting better.

Broner very much picks his victims. What makes you think he'd dare to fight Matthysse?

Also, Broner gets hit pretty easily judging from the Ponce and Rees fights. That greatly favors Matthysse as it only takes one.

Broner is a lot of smoke and mirrors.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

You know, Abner Mares TKO'd PDL and PDL won against Broner (in my opinion) That just shows how bizzare the 'boxing who can be who triangle' can get.

I don't know how hard Broner really hits, I know he has a very solid pop but I honestly think Lucas is a better mover than him simply because of Broner's wide stance. Broner is much faster with his hand speed but his defense leaves something to be desired. Also Lucas has been more active these last tweleve months and heck the boxing game is indeed all about practice after all.

someone asked earlier as to who could beat Lucas, I would have to same the same guy I'd believe who would win 10/10 fighting Broner, Miguel Vazquez.
