I'd say so. I've never been interested in the cruiserweight division, and it doesn't look like it's exactly bristling with talent. Who's the man at cruiserweight now? Guillermo Jones? The 40-something Cuban?
Yea Jones is the champion at 41, that division isn't too stacked. But after looking at Chamber only 3 losses they were to Povetkin who is WBA champion, Wlad Kiltschko, and Adamek who is a great technical heavyweight...plus being a young 30 year old he can dominate that division and bring some life to it ya know?
Is he officially making the drop in weight? Hadn't heard of it. I'd say yes he could probably beat anyone there currently, but he could also lose to anyone decent on a given night as he's lazy and inconsistent, possibly injury prone as well. Really felt he was legitimately about to school Adamek and then hurt his arm early on, he just stopped throwing. I suppose having to lose a cup size might also improve his fitness, he's obviously more suited to cruiserweight.
Hernandez is surely the man at the weight? Huck is probably 2nd. I don't see Chambers dropping in weight and dominating at all. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a fighter that dropped in weightclass to dominate at the weight in recent times.
It's usually not really in a fighters financial interest to drop down to cruiser as there is so little money there compared to heavy, I can't even think of one person who has tried. Chambers is an out of shape cruiserweight fighting at HW, he'll enter the ring not much over 210 with full on breasts. Huck being second tells you exactly how terrible the division is for starters. As I said Chambers is frustrating because he just doesn't throw enough, but if he does feel better at the weight there's no question he can beat the champions there imo.
