Default Rigondeaux - Frampton in September?

World Boxing News - Hyde offers Frampton home advantage against Rigondeaux

Apparently Mcquigan and Warren have been offered the opportunity by Gary Hyde to fight Rigondeaux in September in Ireland. Thoughts? Too much, too soon, or an opportunity not to be missed?

Frampton will never be ready for Rigo so might as take the fight now and hope for a robbery gift.

Or alternatively take the fight and learn from it. Losing is not the end of the world and if Frampton wants to put his name on the map then giving a good account of himself here will do that.

I give Frampton a chance, I said already he'll be top ten p4p eventually.

It is for his promotional team. He's already selling out in Belfast. They can make a fortune with an unbeaten (it doesn't matter to hardcores but sure does casuals) young "Irish" guy, especially if they can fiddle a title, before throwing him in the deep end.

I believe Carl can win a world title without having to "fiddle it".

Quigg ducked him like a pussy, and everybody says Quigg will win a world title.

Frampton is an amazing fighter, he's got what it takes.

I think Frampton is a cracking wee fighter but at this stage Rigondeaux wins. Maybe in a year to 18 months he has a better chance

I agree Frampton is "world" title material. However, Rigondeaux is THE world champion and I don't think Frampton can beat him (especially at the moment).

So even if Frampton beats one of the other alphabet holders, I wouldn't put much weight in his claim to be "world" champion. But the paying public sure as fuck would, so they'd cash in on it.

Quigg didn't duck Frampton. The fight was offered to Quigg after they split to BoxNation. They knew full well that Quigg couldn't fight on BoxNation after just signing a deal with Matchroom (SKY) likewise Frampton couldn't fight on SKY after just signing with BoxNation. It's just common promotional bollocks.

The fight was offered when both were on sky about a year and a half ago.

Frampton won a fight on sky sports and called Quigg out, who was a pundit that night upstairs.

Right after the interview it went back up stairs to the pundits and the first thing they did was ask Quigg if he'd accept, and he was very, very reluctant to answer.

Scott Quigg is a level above Frampton. Much more complete fighter. I think either would fight anyone tomorrow but their promoters see them as assets worth protecting and so they won't meet until one of them loses and at the moment that looks more likely to be Carl who is easier to hit, and a bit over reliant on his power. Quigg can adapt, change gears and styles mid fight. Don't see that same adaptability or the same strong fundamentals with Frampton. That said there is not a huge chasm between them so when they do meet it should be a barnstormer.

Frampton would be made to look slow and one-dimensional by Rigondeaux and that's a best case scenario. Worst case is he's counting lightbulbs. I don't even think they'll risk the Quigg fight until they've won a belt and had a good few defences.

Frampton should wait and win a title and build himself up. Forget fighting one of the best p4p fighters now, he should do the fight at his pace.

Could not agree with you any less, who has Quigg fought?, Monroe?

Frampton would have stopped him just as easy.

The turkey he just stopped? Please, Frampton TKOd Martinez, now I'm not saying Quigg wouldn't, but e difference is Frampton has done it.

Quigg is good, but most of his allure is just word of mouth. He needs to step up.

Silly fight for Frampton. He has no chance unless Rigo doesnt train and aged horribly in a short period of time.

It looks to me like Warren made a balls of things. Romero is now fighting Kiko for his world title. Warren should have secured that shot for Frampton in Belfast
