    Default Ringsize issue

Just watched Hopkins vs Glen Johnson and compared to Hopkins vs Roy Johns
It is just me or the ring in Hopkins vs Glen Johnson looks so small?
Almost like a ring for sparring

I am wondering about of the outcome of big battles like Hopkins vs Roy Johns, Ray Leonard vs Hagler if the ringsize was smaller?

That is the greatest thread title ever. I thought Bilbo had come back worried how he was going to pull Epping forest out his arse. :-)

Ok, weird off topic question. I have heard Epping forest referenced before with a homosexual innuendo, is there something to that? I only knew of it from "Barnaby Rudge", which is the only Dickens novel I couldn't keep reading, got kind of meh. It begins with a description of the forest more or less though, sounds beautiful.

    Ring-size is very important.
The fighter with star power often dictates in the negotiations what size ring they'll fight in.
Ray Leonard particularly wanted the 25 foot ring and 12 rds too instead of 15 because he knew he was going to be using up a lot of ring that night, and that he couldn't keep up the pace for 15.
A 20 ft ring and 15 rds, ray wouldn't have seen the final bell.

Dancers, boxers, they want a big ring.
Aggressive types, pressure-fighters, they want a little ring.

I think Roy Jones would've beat Hopkins the 1st fight no matter what size ring they fought in.

What surprised me the most is the intensity with which Hopkins overwhelmed Glen Johnson, and Glen Johnson was not a bad fighter. Hopkins made him so busy, that he had no time to think. I believe, Johns might have more troubles with Hopkins, a lot more infighting

Ring size didn't matter much in that really. Hopkins was closer to his seek and sharpshoot you on your heels mode and Johnson didn't have the reflex or sharpness like Jones to trap a trap...suck you in and rip you short then get out. Hopkins in effect, to me anyway, had two different careers entirely style wise. Huge investment for Johnson that fight as he was and became very much wise old school. Far from a tough luck face first journeyman.

Pretty sure P4P is not a chick, just someone you disagree with. In any case, always check the Adams apple I guess.

I was not insinuating anything homosexual. More horticultural.

Back on topic, I think different ring sizes suit different fighters but the impact on outcomes is exaggerated.

I assume you meant Jones. I'm not sure about Roy but he probably preferred a bigger ring do to his style. Hopkins and Johnson could probably fight on a ten cent stamp.

Hagler wanted to fight Leonard so bad that he probably would have agreed to remove a limb. He gave away ring size, glove choice and agreed to 12 rounds instead of 15. He also must have agreed to fight right handed for the first 3 rounds of the fight.
