    Default Overrated active fighters

Ranking the 10 Most Overrated Active Boxers | Bleacher Report

I got no problem with this list, except..........

Sergio has no business being there. He's had a HOF career, and Father Time is taking its toll. How the hell can someone like that be overrated?? Seekins missed the boad big time on that one. Instead of Sergio, I would've inserted JCC Jr., a glaring omission from that list. Now THERE'S a candidate for sure.

I think Sergio is overrated especially his boxing skills. Ive heard some put him next to FLoyd as far as skills are concerened but that's ridiculous. He's more of a great athlete than a great boxer.

    Bleacher Report

Seriously? I mean it's not even April Fools day. Jesus Christ. I never thought I would see somebody actually use an opinion from Bleacher Report. Why not just use the National Enquirer? They actually have more creditability. And they don't even write about boxing

    Uhh.... HERE'S a wild thought.
Why don't you counter with why you think the guy's rankings are wrong, instead of just vaguely poking fun that it's from Bleacher Report?

Oh yeah....... it takes no brains to be vague.
    Gotcha.

Hey VD (can't be bothered with your lap dog, Finito).......

since you don't like Bleacher Report, here's one from Boxing News:

Two current most overrated fighters: Canelo Alvarez and Tyson Fury

    Funny....... Canelo appears here, too.

    Gotcha.

From what I hear he's not wrong in his opinion regarding BR. Aside from having terrible writers, they were accused of making up stories and starting rumors just to have something to publish. They are no longer issued press credentials to any MMA or boxing event.

    Stupid list.

    1. Canelo - So classy to kick a guy for losing one fight, to possibly the greatest boxing talent of all time. Do they realize that Floyd has been fighting for 17 years? And that he's been fighting at a world class level since 1998? Canelo is a solid fighter, but he had no idea how to deal with Mayweather at this stage in his career, which isn't much to be ashamed about because neither could the other 44 guys Mayweather has fought.

    2. Broner - Broner is at a "wait and see" position right now. He could be the next Mayweather, or he could be the next big bust, who knows? But to slam him because he didn't look amazing vs Malignaggi? Do they realize that Broner jumped TWO weight classes and fought a champion right out of the gate? Now was Paulie the best guy at WW, HELL NO. But he is a world class fighter and Broner beat him coming up from LW. That's a special fighter.

    3. Ricky Burns - Whatever

    4. Brandon Rios - Who the hell overrates Brandon Rios? Is this guy SERIOUSLY calling Brandon Rios because his promotional company is overrating him? WHAT PROMOTIONAL COMPANY DOESN'T OVERSELL THEIR FIGHTERS? The point is, no fans or sanctioning bodies are overrating him, so it's a stupid point.

    5. Tyson Fury - Tyson is another guy in the "wait and see" catagory. We'll have to wait until after his fight with a real challenge like Haye to see if he's overrated or not. But I have yet to see anyone say anything crazy about him, like he'd beat a Klitschko. He seems to be the biggest overrater of himself.

The rest of the list isn't that bad, but the first picks are stupid.

"Overrated" is another one of those meaningless terms thrown around boxing and although at times it may be true in most cases its the wrong word. I mean seriously Ricky Burns? If anything that guy is an over achiever. Martinez never started boxing until he was 20 so the same goes for him considering what he achieved. Stieglitz is 32 and has been boxing for about 15 years. The guys at the end of his career so the tag does not fit him either.

In many other cases its the "handlers" that are guilty of the term being used. Fighters are steered, coddled, protected along with the entire concept of risk and reward being changed like no other time in history.

Look at Gary Russell. Talent and speed up the ying yang and yet he's on a snails pace competition wise. Lomachenko made his pro debut last night and smashed Ramirez and in doing so almost has a better resume then Russell lol.

Boxing has become in large measure more of an exercise in careful handling of an investment and return then it is about fighting.
