Default I don't like the matchmaking these days!

    Do you?

    Hey, guys...

I don't like today's matchmaking. It's lackluster, meaningless. The fights mean absolutely nothing aside from a belt, which means next to nothing unless you are willing to unify.

We need better matchmaking, particularly in the USA. Britain can do a bit better and Germany and Eastern Europe, quite frankly, are promoting guys who no one knows aside from them.

Chris John hasn't fought anyone of note lately; Andre Ward can't get a fight, although he gets high marks for his fight against a weight drained Dawson; Broner is fine with just skating by; Direll is on the shelf; Mayweather has no one to fight EXCEPT for Manny; Wlad is just, well...; and the rest of the Heavyweight, Super Middle Weight and Middle Weight guys are scared shitless to take REAL fights.

I don't know man, I don't know?!!? It seems like today's matchmaking, when we compare the top names vs. the guys they faced, or are rumoured to face, doesn't leave much to be desired.

    What say ye??

I agree to an extent. Especially when they try to manufacture superstars as I feel is being done with Broner and even Canelo to an extent. The way the judges scored Canelo in a few fights pre Floyd made it seem like he was preordained to win. Some match ups seen to be made for domination by one, not competition by two, but then, some times you get those wonderful moments like JCC jr and his last fight, I wish set ups like those would happen more often. As far as the Heavyweight schedule, I don't get what's going on their at all.

It's the money and the promoters. More divisions, more belts and more belt holders ununified generates more money than one champ per division with less divisions.

That leads further to prospect protectionism, fighters bumming their way to 30-0, cashing out in 1 or 2 big fights at the end of a hyped up rainbow.

Usually the fighters get the blame but modern training and recovery principles and fighters larger purses are only the lesser part of it. It's the fight industry making the real money doing the real damage.

While I agree in that I would like to see the best against the best at all times you have to understand this has happened all through history. From fighters not fighting the available black opponents to even greatss padding their records. Compare JCC and Broner to equal points in their careers and Broner appears to have taken on a murderers row. Part of the issue is simply our mentality these days. We are hyper critical. You used to get credit for taking on a top 20 opponent, now if you aren't fighting the other top 6-8 guys you get slammed. And that's partially justified by how seldom guys fight now. If you're only fighting 2/3 times a year you should be fighting the other top guys. Historically though it's rare to see all the best against the best, that's why we remember and praise eras like that of the 4 horsemen because it is rare. Part of the issue is simply depth. Wlad has taken on everyone out there just as Ali did Ali happened to be around in an era of great heavyweights though so he heaps the praise.

Speaking of that heavyweight era I find it curious that suddenly a huge number of top guys popped up right as steroids began running rampant throughout the NFL and nobody seems to be suspect of that era. It seems a very logical question to raise but I've never seen it brought up.

But, take this for consideration: It has gotten so bad that a fight we should be building towards, a Broner vs. Garcia fight, just won't happen anytime soon and we know it. I mean, like... wtf?!!?

... take these also for example: Wilder vs. Jennings/Fury/Haye/Arreola, just won't happen and we have to ask: "Why won't it happen?"....

I think, finally, Mayweather vs. Pac-man is gonna happen. Even if we have to wait for the last fight on Mayweather's contract. But I feel it will happen.

Thurman vs. Garcia also make sense. We just won't see it soon. I just don't understand why not?!?!
